I'm considering getting Witcher 2 for the 360 but I have a couple questions I'm hoping someone can answer for me first:

1) Having never played the first game and knowing nothing about the events in it, will I be totally lost playing this or is the storyline easy to dive into?

2) How are the controls for it on the 360?

I asked this a couple of times in the Random Thread.

I believe it was assfax who said that it isn't really necessary to play the first one (since I asked if it did some sort of Bioware save remembrance thing) and they make references to the first game to get you up to speed.

Considering that the games are basically filling in the gaps between a bunch of the short stories (some of which aren't even translated into English yet) you should be good to go with no prior knowledge. I know i played the first game and then read the books and it was just a lot of filling in gaps and meeting people for the first time that Geralt already knew in the game. Having played both of them (about 2/3 through the second one) I can say pretty much everything you need to know is found either in the dialogue/flashbacks or text files found in the games' journal and books.

I can't really speak as to how it controls on the 360 since I play on PC but perhaps someone else can help there. It does play a little like Dragon Age does with radial menus and such so I can't see it being to different.

Controls are great. The storyline of the first is impenetrable even with their attempts to get you up to speed with some stylish motion comics. Ultimately it doesn't matter, though, the main story of the Witcher 2 seems to stand on its own.

The novels that the games are based on pretty much stand on their own, so I suspect the games will as well.

My only hope is that the console version isn't uber censored.
And if you can't enjoy a horror flick while high and surrounded by black people, what the fuck are you even doing watching horror flicks?

I remember Dan tweeting a week or two about the awkward moment where his younger (I think) brother was watching him play the game and, whoops, nudity.

Everything I have read says that everything from the PC version made it into the console version.

So yeah... looks like its going to be a lot of after hours playing for me lest my 7 year old walks in

There's only two parts with nudity.  Right at the very beginning and near the end of flotsam. Ain't no absolute out of nowhere bits and bobs. I'd say the swearing is worse and more prevalent.

That is disappointing.  The whole point of playing The Witcher was watching Geralt of Rivia pretty much be the sword and socrery version of A Pimp Named Slickback.

It's a far better game than the first Witcher. Get it. Play it. Love it.

Just beat it.
Spoiler
, so I think I might play through again and do all the opposite choices to see how different it is. My one complaint is the boss fights. I hate the whole "get one strike and run away" when you're fighting the Kayran and

. Other than that one complaint, I reccomend this to everyone. It was a hell of a lot of fun.

So yeah... Holy Fuck!

The opening cinematic was amazing.

I am a little irritated that the Tutorial was all "HA! HA! You Suck. Play on Easy!" I am sorry that I didn't grasp a totally new combat system right away. Stupid everything.

I haven't really done anything but I keep feeling like I am missing a billion things.

I also feel like I really need to get out of my Mass Effect "always select the top option" mode.

I am going to pick this up in a couple of weeks.  It will probably leapfrog over Gears of War 3 on my Pile of Shame.

I still need to beat Dragon Age: Awakening.  Fuck...

Get the first Witcher novel from Amazon and you will get up to speed after a couple day's of reading.  The game follows the book's plot to the letter albeit without Geralt's constant wenching.

Oh and going on what assfax had said - I waited to start it until no one else was in the apartment because the early nudity definitely would have gotten me yelled at from my wife and I would have had to answer too many questions from my son.

Wait... that so totally reads wrong.

Yeah, having a copy of The Witcher or Witcher II at the house can be all kinds of awkward.

I got the evil eye from my girlfriend whenever I put EDI in my squad when playing ME3, so you can imagine the size and weight of the projectiles she'd throw at my head if she saw Geralt putting the make on the clerk in the first game.  Yikes.
