I didn't even register that as a rugby look. (Let alone a rugby gimmick - what, was he doing rugby stuff?) He just had this nice old school type look to him, to me. Either way, I was a huge fan of that match. One the one hand I was marking out, seeing this guy I saw wrestle in Essen WAAAAY back in the day (like, the Sigmasta Rappo days) truly arrive, but it was also a sweet ass squash. With the Ryback match, you didn't get any kind of feel for the dude. BAM and it's over. The Claudio squash, he started out with some crisp basic stuff (which oddly seemed to get some big pops), hit a really impressive throw that establishes him as a freakishly strong dude (which he is), actually hit the picture perfect toss-you-in-the-air European uppercut (pleasing my indy smarky soul), establishing that not only does he have power, he can match it with ridiculous precision and crispness and.. well, finished with kind of a weird move, to be honest. I love the Suzuki/Gotch reference, but those falling forward moves never really feel that impactful to me. I wouldn't be that thrilled if that turns out to be his main finisher. Whatever, though. The crowd seemed to dig it.

Yes! Yes! I love Youtube.

Give that man some decent trunks and a real theme and you've got gold. Very happy to see Claudio on my TV every Friday.

Rugby was mentioned by Cole. As I say, Burchill was given this too - I blame Vince.

Rugbys are not polos. I think we need to spend a couple of pages talking about this.

He needs knee pads, not garters.  That looks ridiculous in the bad way.

Just watched Antonio Cesaro's debut. Entrance theme sucks and I'm not sure about the rugby gimmick. Cesaro looked good in his squash win, loved the evelated European Uppercut and the finisher's okay, think I'll have to get used to that. Hope to see the UFO at some point.

I LOVE that Natural is such a nice easy going guy... and then some one says "Shia LeBeouf" and Mr Hyde emerges with a vengeance.

Am I the only one whose white guilt is making it very uncomfortable to watch some of these Teddy/Ace scenes?

Never usually comment on the show threads, because any point I was going to make is usually already made by several people by the time I get round to reading them, but fuck that Antonio Cesaro theme music to the most agonising level of hell. What are they thinking? It had better just be a placeholder until they license the appropriate Celtic Frost track, or come up with a grand pseudo Bond tune, or create some kind of fusion of tortured cowbell and the sound of crunching rugby tackles. The match was fun, the uppercut was awesome, but unless he's playing the lost Swiss member of the fucking Kooks, something has to be done about that music or he'll be lucky to main event NXT and have anyone take him seriously.

Ha that's fabulous. That move is too cool for a heel I think.

When Cesano got him up for his move my jaw literally dropped when I thought a piledriver was on its way.

It's a good rudo move, but that's not *quite* the same as being a good heel move.

I remember Kennedy giving a piledriver to Taker a few years ago, is that the last piledriver in WWE?

I think the last one was Shawn to Cena at WM 23.

For me, getting a guy into piledriver position and then dropping him on his stomach instead of his head= move not over.

Did Kenzo Suzuki's Rugby career ever get mentioned on Smackdown? Considering he did actually play the game, at World Cup level and all.

Setting someone up for a Piledriver and then intentionally not Piledrving them should be a taunt spot... like that guy who used to signal for a Moonsault, climb to the top rope facing outwards... and then fall backwards with a straight down, none-flippy elbow drop. Or the People's Elbow when it first started.
I stared across the pool table at Bubba as some heathen chose a Smiths song on the jukebox. I hate the Smiths. I'd rather be tied to a chair and forced to listen to a medley of Suzanne Vega and Natalie Merchant songs while performance artists hammered nails through their genitalia in front of me than listen to thirty seconds of Morrisey and the Smiths whine their art-school angst about how they are human and need to be loved. Maybe I'm a cynic, but if you want to be loved, stop whining about it and you just might get laid, which could be a promising first step.

- Gone Baby Gone

You want it both ways. You want to have your cake and fucking eat it to. You want to fuck the shit out of that cake, and have that cake get your family's approval. I'm not sure which way to go on this one... it might be a chance for you to learn an early lesson in not giving a fuck what other people think. A lesson every man has to learn sooner or later.

- The Ultimate Warrior, responding to a reader who asked if it was OK to start dating his cousin.
