Tons of talent, tons of charisma... and sometimes he doesn't feel like doing much. Sounds familiar...

It seems like the last couple years, he's figured out how to make his formula work in prowres consistently, and has had a lot of quality matches. And not for nothing, I'm doing my hair like his for my black belt test in August, which pushes him up the rankings for me.

Top 50. Maybe higher, but Top 50 sounds safe to me. His charisma usually makes up when his matches fail, and over the last few years he's been in some of my favorite matches. His dome match with Tanahashi, last year's match with Nakamura, and the cage match with Funaki, which is one of my favorite cage matches ever. He's funny as balls, his match with Mecha Mummy is a classic. Oh and I love his tag work with Takayama, I think they're one of my favorite duos in wrestling history.

He'd be helped out a lot if there were more uber-charismatic, great babyfaces around. Suzuki has to be the easiest heel to work against, certainly that I know of in Japan and maybe even in the world - every fucking thing he does is a possible payback spot, and you can't ask for more than that, as a babyface, when it's time to make your comeback.

When he's on, he's ON... and I love his legit background, his look, and his charisma and sense of humour... but oh my goodness when MiSu doesn't feel like bringing it he just does NOTHING in there. It's really hard for me to think of another pro wrestler who has such a huge gulf between his good stuff (which is some of the best stuff going these days) and his lazy stuff (which is probably the most disappointing stuff going these days). He really half-assed it when Osaka Pro brought him in as the special guest last year... but he's also one of the few guys where I'll go out of my way to watch his current recommended stuff... and he got a good match out of Strong Man! Very hard to rank him above 50 when he's that inconsistent. Very hard to rank him lower considering how much I like the good stuff. Maybe top 75?

50 is definitely the safe bet for me. He could crack 30 but probably falls more in the 35 range. Such a unique entity, and I'm so glad he exists.

Top 50. Very wont to mail it in but when he can reel in the no-selling or it works with his opponent, like with Nakamura last year, you will get a gem.

P.S. I'm waiting with baited breath for Takayama to show up in this debate...

There's GOT to be more opinions on Minoru Suzuki!

I like him an awful lot. I rooted for him in Pancrase and I'd be a lot more forgiving of his shortcomings and more lauding of his strengths that most. I went Top 50 on the strength of his early shoot-style highlights and the overall fun factor (for me) in watching even his mailed home stuff.
