Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath  After 4 mostly unrelenting, absolutely brilliant, but admittedly somewhat "same-ish" albums, the Sabs got a bit more diverse and musically creative on this.  And it didn't suffer at all for it.  What it lacks in sheer power it makes up for with great song writing.  Especially Killing Yourself To Live and Sabbra Cadabra.  The title track is also a standout.  If early Black Sabbath was the music equivalent to a horror film, Who Are You? is the musical answer to a creepy psychological thriller.

Well fuck this place. It took 144 characters or less to kill all the buzz we'd built up in this thread. "We take pro wrestling seriously" sounds like code for Davey Richards vs. Davey Richards in a Davey Richards on a pole match. Inside a Steel Davey Richards.

So, I started a blog....https://farwell3d.wordpress.com/

Dude how can you not mention Spiral Architect?

Not really a rock album but it's an interesting... thing.

I'd already listed more than half the tracks, I had to stop somewhere.  I mean, seriously, the only band I definitely think is better than Sabbath is The Beatles.  There are a few others I can see an argument for, but not many.

I'll reopen it with Houses of the Holy (maybe my fave Led Zep album. Can't fuck with 'The Rain Song' and 'No Quarter'), Innervisions and Larks' Tongues in Aspic.

In fact, 1973 was really good, so I should write a proper post on it. Mahavishnu Orchestra, Can, Faust, John Cale, Edu Lobo. Fucking Magma's magnum opus, too.

Emeralds, Dillinger Escape Plan, Skullflower,
First quarter 2010 songs, UFC 111, Ke$ha...

Okay, I'm feeling lazy and posting album titles.
But at least I'm editing out the ones already mentioned, mostly. :)
Black Oak Arkansas - High on the Hog
Blue Oyster Cult - Tyranny and Mutation
Jethro Tull - A Passion Play
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

ZZ Top, "Tres Hombres". Contains La Grange, which makes it a decent selection as ballot filler.

Good call; I didn't phrase that properly. La Grange ALONE makes it ballot-worthy; the rest is gravy.

Spoiler

I actually don't think I've heard the rest of the album. But The Red and the Black rules.

Aerosmith - Aerosmith  Mama Kin is one of the great rockers of all time.  Dream On is an all-time classic.  I've honestly never heard the whole album, but I'm very much planning too for this, because if the rest of it lives up to those songs, god damn.

My number 1 comes from 1973, if I had to suggest one album for any of you to seriously listen to in the hopes that New Blood and I aren't the only ones, it's Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings, it's a perfect album.

This is actually my favourite Aerosmith record. By far. I think they settled into too much same-y material as the years tick over, but it's a fun start for the band.

Laws yes. "Rain Song," "No Quarter," "Dancing Days," "The Ocean" ("we've done four already but now we're steady"), "Over the Hills and Far Away"... that's top-shelf stuff.

Brain Salad Surgery might be my all-time favorite album as ELP just bring the thunder non-stop. When even the filler songs like "Benny the Bouncer" and "Still... You Turn Me On" are great you know you're cooking with gas.

I'm definitely going to be voting for that album and much more from Waylon and company.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - (Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd) - Another fantastic debut record.  Great mix of southern rock, honky tonk and blues.  I know it's mostly known for Free Bird but Tuesday's Gone is just as good, Gimme Three Steps is a great rocker and Mississippi Kid is a great blues song.  I know they have songs that are completely played out but there's still a lot of really quality songs in their 70s albums.

Al Green - Call Me
Barry White - I've Got So Much to Give
Barry White - Stone Gon'
Bob Marley - Catch a Fire
Captain Beyond - Sufficiently Breathless
Dr. John - In the Right Place
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
James Brown - Black Caesar
Lou Reed - Berlin
New York Dolls - New York Dolls
The O'Jays - Ship Ahoy
Waylon Jennings - Lonesome, On'ry and Mean
Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie
