Now we're into the nitty gritty. Two guys who escaped their initial label of "chick favourites" and have shown they're damn fine actors. Really tough to call as you've got Seven, Fight Club and Inglorious Basterds on one hand, and Fear and Loathing, Blow, and Ed Wood on the other.

Flipped a coin. Landed Depp.

Actually you kind of made my mind up for me.  In that list of movies, in every case Depp is irreplaceable and Pitt is not.  Or at least Depp was way more instrumental in making the movie work.  Replace him with any other actor and you have to rework the whole thing and you end up with anything like what is there with him.

I don't think you can say that for Pitt in any of those roles.

"It's all a big Nothing.  What makes you think you're so special?"

Admittedly, that is a good point, but I went with Pitt. I love Depp for the unusual quirky roles and characters he creates, but I generally have no interest in actually seeing his movies (at least in the last decade or so). With Pitt, on the other hand, you know if he's in it, it's going to be, at the very least, a solid film. He chooses his scripts wisely.

I can't decide if this one or the Downey Jr/Hanks one was the harder one for me here.

And if I came back in 6 hours... I totally might vote the other way

I can appreciate Depp's versatility but I'm not a big fan. Pitt gets my vote.
