In the course of running these votes, I do a spreadsheet to keep track of matches and ballots. It's a big help for me to know what to expect on ballots in advance so I don't have to do all the work on the final weekend. So, if there's a match you plan to vote for and it's not on the list, speak up! Also, make the case for why YOUR top matches deserve high placement. Yes/No threads focus on "is this match good" but don't have a lot of "this match is better than the rest".

Nominations MUST have been brought up in a yes/no thread to be eligible!

Will start with my 1 and 2.

Kota Ibushi vs. Ryusuke Taguchi 6/10 NJPW
One of my all time favourite matches and definitely my favourite NJPW Juniors match ever. Big match feel, two guys coming in desperate to take home the trophy, white hot crowd and some of the best action of the whole year. Incredible.

Maraha Isappa vs. Fujii/Mochizuki 2/6 DG
This was pre-Blood Warriors being full fleded heels so Genki and Ryo play total babyfaces here and Mochi and Fujii let them have it. An all time great beatdown with a classic comeback.

Hey Daniel, you wouldn't happen to still have that MPro 10-man tag would you? I asked for it in the request thread a week ago and no one has responded, and it's not on DailyMotion or YouTube anymore. I need to rewatch it, I don't really remember shit about except for that I really liked it. Someone help me out here.

As for my top 20, I'm thinking all the stuff I'll be voting for is already up there. I'm not done watching yet, so if you could go ahead and let me know when you want to lock these nominations in, the sooner you could announce that deadline the better.

Tanahashi vs. Naito 10/10 NJPW

Was shocked to see this not on the list as alot of people called it the best New Japan match last year. So I investigated and what do I see - it only has ONE vote in the yes/no. Has nobody else watched this??? I mean it was a pretty big match and got alot of praise in other circles. To me it was the best Tanahashi match last year, as Naito brought some serious energy to it. Foreshadowing of what was to come on March 4th.

PAC/Dragon Kid vs. CIMA/Ricochet (7/17) (DG)

This on the other hand I'm not surprised to see absent. I know it's not a DVDVR style match but screw that it's an ALAN style match and it'll be in my top 10. Crazy match!

Team Doi Darts vs. Gamma/Tominaga/Shachihoko (11/19) (DG)

A God damn great underdog match. So well worked, everything came together perfectly. The triple Asai moonsaults and the jujigatame tease were two of my favourite spots of the year.

Alan, you talked on your audio show months ago about your ***** matches to that point in the year. I assume the two listed are among them, I am sure you said there was one more. What was it, and are there any other you think are worth watching? I don't have a ton of time so I'm being really picky as I catch up.

Also, Ishikawa vs Ikeda from Nov. 5 felt like Misawa vs Kobashi would've felt in 2006 right before Kobashi left for cancer treatments. There, I said it. That being said, I still liked it a lot more than the 2005 match.

I think "you just don't like people under 100kg" could be thrown at a lot of people (ie. me). It's about stylistic preferences.

I think it's more that he really, really likes the junior stuff. Like to the point where I don't think there's anybody on the planet who gets more enjoyment out of wrestling.

Yeah, that could apply to me as well for the most part. I wasn't being serious, I was just busting his beans.

the thing is, only one of those matches was wrestled "juniors style".

The PWG match was all about babyface/heel drama, Shingo/Susumu was a hard hitting war, and the Mochi tag was an underdog beatdown match.

DDT4 was the only PWG show I didn't see from last year. I know this is a little off-topic, but did you see the Bucks vs. Steen/Dragon from December? It's kinda like halfway between a Dragon Gate main event and an early FMW brawl. It's probably my non-Sami non-Finlay indy MOTY.

yeah the Super D match rocked. Such a wild, crazy affair. I love the Bucks as brawlers. Really underrated.

Definitely try to watch DDT4 man - maybe my fave PWG show ever.

Just out of curiosity, how did you rate Generico vs. Steen from Steen Wolf?
