Two things need to be done next season:  

1) "The '02 NU/'11 Bama Rule" - You don't win your conference (or are an unbeaten independent), you don't play for the National Championship.
2) "The Nick Saban Vote Rule" - If you're a coach in the top 5 of the previous poll, you must recuse yourself from voting in the next week's poll.


That or a playoff.  Cause that works too.

Still not as bad as the year Ohio State & Oregon were battling for the second spot in the title game, and Tressel voted OSU 2, and Oregon 9th or 10th....

Yeah, that's far from the most egregious case in history.  And Saban wasn't the only coach to vote OK State #4, so it's possible he was legitimately part of some small cadre of coaches who thought Stanford was better.  I wouldn't agree with that, but everybody's got opinions...

I'd actually be for a rule that excluded coaches of teams in the previous Top 5 from voting in the final coaches poll.  I bet most coaches would be for it, too.  None of these guys at the top of the polls like the idea of their vote being so heavily scrutinized after the fact (like this case here) and would likely happily give it up to someone else.

Anyway, like I've been saying for weeks, if you're someone who wants a playoff or at least a major overhaul of the BCS, then Bama/LSU is the game you want.

Several coaches had Oklahoma St in the 4-6 range. Besides wanting Alabama in the #2 spot I do not understand why Okie St is not #3 in the very least. I do not understand why coaches have a say in this matter. It is not as if they are watching the games week in and week out.

Well, Trent's not winning.  Ball will syphon off some of the RB votes, and Mathieu will eat into his Southeastern base, so...

I hope RG3 wins.  Will throw up if Luck takes it.

If I had a vote, I'd go with Ball without much of a second thought.  4th in the nation in ypg (Trent was 5th, I believe) and 12 more touchdowns that anyone else.

Pretty sure Luck is going to win though.

Wow.  Stiffarmtrophy's projections have flipped massively from last week.  Apparently beating down Texas is good for your Heisman chances, cause right now, 71 ballots counted, and RG3 has 44 first place votes, Luck has 8, Richardson has 7, Ball has 3, Honey Badger has 2.  And if you are like me, you are wondering how 71 ballots has only produced 66 first place votes...

It's possible their numbers are a bit skewed right now due to the small sample size.  They themselves even note that early projections can be influenced by proponents of underdog candidates trumpeting their votes the loudest.  BUT I do feel like RG3 has seized the momentum between the 2 QB candidates.

Personally, I wouldn't even have Luck among the finalists.  I've got no problem with TRich, Ball, and the LSU guy.  If you're going with QBs, take 2 from RG3, Keenum, Kellen Moore, and Matt Barkley.  Personally, it would probably be RG3 and Keenum.  I'd also probably drop the LSU guy - my Heisman finalists don't get suspended during their Heisman seasons for drugs - and add Moore.

Not that this matter as part of a Heisman discussion but I think Matt Barkley will be a better pro than Andrew Luck.

Stiff Arm up to 141 ballots.  RG3 still way ahead.  Barkley has one first place vote, the only one I see listed for a non-finalist.  Looks like Luck (currently 159 points, 1136 projected) is the only other guy with a shot besides RG3 (310, 2371) though.
