Ex-Manchester United star McQueen set to undergo cancer treatment

Unfortunately cancer has picked a poor target after getting its arse handed to it by Captain Marvel. I don't fancy its chances.

And Wayne Rooney will miss the beginning of Euro2012 after having a moment of madness against Montenegro and being directly red carded.

England hang on for the 2-2 draw (blew a 2-0 lead) and qualify for Euro12

Bit annoying but whatever. Media reaction as always is brilliant, the silver lining whenever England don't do well/things don't go to plan. As far as I can tell Wayne Rooney has gone from reformed to nutcase in one second. England should also be winning Euro 2012 but the absence of one player for (what should be) 2 games means it's all been fucked up. So we're essentially a one man team. Which is closer to the truth than being tournament winners, if we're being realistic.

Welbeck & Sturridge plz.

you'd think England could get out of the Euro group stage with or without the boy.

It depends on the draw though. As the UEFA rankings stand (and presuming they all qualify) it's possible for England to be grouped with Spain, Portugal and France, and I wouldn't fancy England to get out of that group even with Rooney.

Yes, and Spain, Netherlands, and Germany have to be pot1 nations. Who would get that 4 spot in pot 1? Italy or England? I don't see how England is rated so high in the FIFA rankings. I know there are a lot of Brits on here but I'm just saying. Their run over the last 5 years or so has not been very good. Yes, they've been qualifying for the major tournaments but not much more. I mean, they didn't deserve the point the other night v. Montenegro.

They have a good record against crap teams, is all. Capello has been the most successful manager since the 40's by the way, not that he's any good, knows what he's doing, or is any more successful and experienced than Harry fucking Redknapp and Roy Hodgson.

The pot 1 nations are Ukraine, Poland, Spain and Holland. Ukraine and Poland being the hosts, Spain being the defending champions and Holland being the next highest ranked team (#2 after Spain, obviously). It's done by UEFA coefficients, not FIFA rankings. Germany and Italy are definitely in. England will probably be in that same pot, as will Russia going by this data. Not concrete until the qualifying has finished but I can't see it changing dramatically.

Definitely deserved a point, Montenegro were terrible in the first half.

By the way, regarding the FIFA ranking (not that it really means anything), was interested so I looked up Spain's ranking from 1993 to 2007, so a year before they really kicked on. Same area as England's. 5, 2, 4, 8, 11, 15, 4, 7, 7, 3, 3, 5, 12, 4. They performed generally the same as England have, at most making it through to the knockouts before falling in the quarters. In conclusion: it's a load of rubbish.
