Dave and I talk about why pro wrestling is better than MMA. We have a few quirks again with talkshoe but nothing as an awful as the audio on the previous show or the loss of Maritimes show (which we will redo in the near future). Lots of talk on everything from the alleged bisexuality of Tank Abbot, to Diaz brothers riots, to my obligatory Buddy Rose references and more!

And to clarify, we discuss why pro wrestling is better than mma and not vice versa

AND WE R BACK!
The missing Maritimes show, re-done! Bigger, Better, Crazier! Dave, myself and special guest Andrew Lacelle cover the whole gamut of Maritimes wrestling history, from the Carnie circuit to racist promotional tactics to The (REAL) Cuban Assassin to the great Leo Burke to Rip Rogers and all spots in between. Dave does some great historical rundowns, Andrew compares Grand Prix to Memphis and I have an on air orgasm talking about Bobby Bass. Metric tons of fun. Maybe my favorite show yet.

Hey sorry this took so long to reply, I just wanted to say that this was a terrific listen for someone who grew up watching Grand Prix (I am the same age as Lacelle, give or take a year or two) it is always interesting to hear about things you remember from childhood and how it stacks up now that you are an Adult.
One thing that someone (forgive me for forgetting) mentioned that I think is pretty vital, is that the Maritimes maybe more so than most places really connects with the idea of the 'Local Boys'. I think that predilection towards supporting Hometown boys really did have something to do with the Cormier family's success. They were so successful and so clearly hometown boys that the natural urge to support our own really helped them. The fact that they were great workers helped too obviously or else it probably would have been a little less feverish (In the late Nineties reboot of Grand Prix The Beast was still getting good to great reactions [on PEI at least] even though he was extremely old looking and not really able to work much)
So yes in closing on this rambling post this is a great podcast and deserves to be listened to big time.
Oh also No Class Bobby Bass was still the best Mic worker I have ever seen live as of 2003. He is amazing.

Episode EIGHTTTT!
Dave and I are joined by the legendary Goodhelmet/Will The Thrill to discuss the All Japan Best of The 80's Set. We talk about the best matches on the set, the best wrestlers, whether or not Footloose was a Blowjob Tag Team, Crystal Gale as a sex symbol that may or may not have slept with Dusty Rhodes, the similarities between Killer Khan and porn stars, and other things that don't relate to graphic sex acts. We set the table for the coming Portland and AWA Sets, advocate for Hansen as a top ten guy of all time, and debate the merits of Fujinami v. Tenryu as the best Japanese wrestler of the 80's. And of course Dave makes several inappropriate Kerry Von Erich jokes. Another super fun show.

I was so close to travelling to Ottawa for that C4 show, I've come down twice before. But alas, there was a family get-together announced and as much as I wanted to see it you have to pick and choose when wrestling shows can trump a nephew's birthday party.
It sounds like the Mathieu St. Jacques vs Eddie Kingston match was good, would that be the case? I really would have liked to see Sebastian Suave vs Cheech Hernandez as well

Both matches were rock solid. I was sitting right behind the guy who got mouth gagged by Sileezia Sparks during the Sebastian Suave match. I am actually somewhat stoked that it looks like Suave, St. Jacques and Stupefied look like they are forming a new faction.
