The other thread was long enough anyway.

So, MVP in New Japan, pretty weird huh?

That took long enough. MVP talk, not banning of random perverse fellow. I assume he'll do fine over in New Japan. MVP, not the banned fellow.

I wonder if he'll have any visa issues, considering he reportedly spent time in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping (MVP, that is).

New Japan said they are handling whatever problems that are preventing him from coming over. Let's wait until he arrives in Japan. Then the fun will begin.

Man, I had the craziest dream last night. When I woke up, I found out it was true.

I'm talking about MVP in New Japan, of course. I'm actually kind of interested in this. I haven't really been a fan of his style and I'm a little interested if he'll alter it in NJ. Or he'll just go through the motions and hit all his spots on Toru Yano for a year.

You make that sound like a bad thing... I, for one, am all for Toru Yano getting kicked in the face for 12 months. Even better if the Japanese take to MVP and start screaming "Ballin'"!

So I'm watching this dvd of Riki Choshu's Japan Pro from around 1985, and I have a few questions. They had their own bus, they had their own dojo, so about how often did they run shows? They showed clips from a couple, including one with Giant Kimala squaring off against Choshu in a tag. I always thought that Japan Pro was just a guise they used for them invading All Japan, didn't really think it was an actual promotion.

-Soya & Sanada vs Sekimoto & Okabayashi has happened twice on this AJ tour, and both were 30 minute draws. This must be setting up an All Asia title match, but... when?!

-DDT claimed 490 for their show at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Wha?!

-Togo defends the KOD title vs HARASHIMA on the 27th.

Most likely a big time made up number but it is possible to get that many people in the building if you set up a bunch of extra chairs around ringside. Gannosuke's retirement show drew a legit 480 in the building.

Most likely at Sumo Hall on 3/21. Their first draw in Korakuen is like mega hyped by all the Japanese blogs with Beye calling it "god class".

Kaz vs. Kondo III happened in Osaka today, with Kondo winning, so it'll be Minoru vs. Kondo at Sumo Hall, and out comes Koji Kanamoto and say's he's reforming his team with Minoru. Minoru/Kanamoto vs. Kaz/Kondo on 3/6 at Korakuen most likely.

Also looks like All Japan will be using the money they used to spend on Nishimura on Takao Omori now that Nish has left to focus on politics. He'll be teaming with Taiyo Kea now.

There has to be some other washed up veteran who is better than Omori.

I don't mind bringing in another vet. That's fine. They've got plenty of new dudes and really they just need some one to fill in Nishi's role.

But Takao Omori would not be the first name that would come to mind. Or the 8th. Or 23rd.

However, Kanemoto/Minoru vs. Kondo/Kaz sounds boss as hell so I won't let it get me down.

What's Shibata getting up to these days? I'm sure I read he was thinking of throwing the towel in on his doomed MMA career, his only victories have been against MINOWAMAN and Kendo freakin Kashin. It's such a shame he ditched that potential NOAH career as Takeover could have been like the Holy Demon Army of NOAH but like everything in NOAH this decade it petered out with only one awesome match to remember it by. There was a tag in BML that had him up against Marufuji and I thought that had some potential as a rivalry as well, Takeover vs Marufuji/Sugiura or Marufuji/Morishima seems like a classic match that was robbed away by Shibata's doomed MMA career but I guess he felt some need to prove himself as a fighter as opposed to a pro wrestler.

He's probably busy being someone's sparring punching bag. AJPW really needs HIRO SAITO.

I think he'd (Shibata) go back to New Japan because aren't him and Goto supposed to be like bffs or something?

It was a promotion, though they dealt almost exclusively with All Japan.

They held 1 show in 1984 (12/4/84)

They held 21 shows in 1985.

2/21/85 had the first Choshu vs. Tenryu match.  It was taped and was released on Choshu's 30th Anniversary dvd.

11/4/85 had the Choshu-Jumbo broadway

I would have to dig out my Choshu's army results notbeook to see how many shows they held in 86 and 87.

Wait, what Choshu's 30th DVD? Was it from 'Riki Pro'?

Every time I see that commercial on TV for I think breath mints where they're parodying Dancing with the Stars and the guy catches the girl with her hanging backwards off him hanging onto her legs, I think of Omori dumping people onto their heads from that position. That is all.
