Well, you get the run of issues fairly early on with great writers, like Sim and Gaiman.  You just have to get through that handful of Todd written issues first.  And then...  Well, then stop, or jump ahead, or something.

I dunno. Spawn got pretty good as it went on, mostly due to Todd getting distracted by toys and leaving capable writers like Brian Holguin to pick up the work. The David Hine run (which Vic is talking about) is REAL good.

Was wondering how recommended Locke & Key is? Comixology is having a half off sale for it and I'm wondering if it's worth checking out.

It's terrifically popular, though it wasn't my cup of tea. Pretty artwork, though. Probably worth getting that first "trade" on comixology for $5 to see if you like it.

I loooooove Locke and Key, but it does take a fair while to get going. It reads like a novel with each mini making up a 'chapter' more or less. Books one and two set things up for it to really pick up in three and four. Clockworks is book five if memory serves and at this point it's easily one of the best things going but again, it takes a while to get there.

I'd go for it, but I mean...I've been reading it all along.

Real Science Action #1 is FUCKING AWESOME.  We get a followup to the very first Atomic Robo story, a couple of serials (one of which is a Sparrow solo tale) and the brilliant, meaty-yet-elegant revenge of DOCTOR DINOSAUR~!  And it's only $2.75 in print and $1.99 digital.  This means it's not only BETTER than ninety percent of what DC and Marvel publish, it's CHEAPER.

It's kind of scary wading into the deep waters of Dark Horse Star Wars. I was thinking of giving this one a look, as it's an anthology.

Dragon:  My condolences.  Losing your local comics pusher is bad.  Losing your job is worse (by several orders of magnitude...they're not even comparable).  But when your job is AT the comics pusher and it goes under...*shudder*.

Kronos: Sorry, only Star Wars comics I've bought of the modern era are the HEIR TO THE EMPIRE adaptation and the Old Republic backstory minis.  Can't comment on TALES.

After almost six years, it's almost nice. It's letting me look at comics from a non-work perspective. It'll be better once I have something else to buy new ones, but I probably have (quite literally) 300-400 trades backlogged, so I'll be more or less good for a while. Atomic Robo is pretty much the one thing which I'm really anxious to keep up with. At the very least grabbing the new trade.

This weekend's Dark Horse Digital sale is 50% off on a bunch of humor titles--the first volumes of Dr. McNinja and Axe Cop (though why you'd buy the digital version of the print version of a webcomic I'm not sure; I like both series, but if I want to buy them it'll be in print), the recent Groo miniseries, and Tag and Bink Are Dead (the characters from the infamous TROOPS Star Wars fan film)

So, I read the first 3 issues of Morning Glories.  I know some people have praised it on here, but why did no one tell me A.) How incredibly fucked up it is and B.) How completely up my alley it is?  Seriously, shit is fucked up.

But, again, a teen girl who kicks some ass + a completely fucked up plot = Brian likes it.
