According to Rebney (via MMA Fighting):

Quote

“We have a business model where we make decisions based on analyzing data,” he said. "Since the first day we came into being, we made decisions based on real models, not hypotheticals. The UFC model is largely based on pay-per-view, and the offer they made to hector is going to be monetized via pay-per-view. While pay-per-view could play a role in our future, today it doesn’t. So, we did our due diligence to review the UFC contract, analyze in terms of charging our audience to see Hector vs. putting him on free TV, and we decided to allow the UFC to sign Hector, where I am extremely confident he will win the UFC middleweight title on pay-per-view.
Didn't Rebney already get in trouble for perusing UFC contracts?

I assume Bellator had the right of first refusal, so they would have the legal right to review the UFC contract that Lombard signed so they could decide whether they wanted to match it or not.

Nick Diaz and his legal team are now suing the NSAC, claiming his suspension is unlawful.  Yes, the "fuck the rules" guy is now saying, "They didn't follow the rules."  Good luck with that.

I always knew it wouldn't be long before a fighter goes legal on the athletic commissions for their ineptitude.

Never in a million years did I think Nick Diaz would be that fighter.

Random and/or stupid question: What do fighters wrap their feet with, just gauze and/or athletic tape? I wanna get my hands on the black foot wrap deal.

Anybody else watch the Invicta FC stream? A couple of clunkers over 11 fights, but overall I was entertained by ladies' efforts.  Also, the world needs less Mauro Ranallo and more King Mo.

I watched and also enjoyed it for the most part. Really liked the Young/Smith fight, Carmouche was dominant, Jessica Penne was real impressive and I always love seeing Marloes Coenen back in there. Fun show, I hope they continue airing on their site since they announced a second show for July.

The black foot wrap dealie you are talking are probably ankle support wraps. I used Grapplesocks made of neoprine until I noticed the fraying around the soles and switched to a durable cotton anklewrap.

I now prefer cotton over neoprine because once neoprine starts to get loose, it stretches out of shape & you will eventually lose support.

Hand wash your cotton wraps in cold water in the sink when you get home after class and let them hang dry. That way they will always shrink back to a snug fit.

I only wear my ankle supports during drills or training kicks. I don't wear them when I am sparring because guys love to dig their fingers into the fabric of the support when trying to secure an ankle lock or a heel hook.
And if you can't enjoy a horror flick while high and surrounded by black people, what the fuck are you even doing watching horror flicks?

Speaking of, how's the Pulver documentary (Driven?) that's on Hulu?

And does anyone even need to point out that "I have a pot card!  No, you can't ask to see it because of HIPPA!" is NOT HOW HIPPA LAWS WORK?

I'll do my best to catch the July card as well, DB. I just hope that they prepare for the demand, because I heard they had something like 100,000 streams going at one point last night, and it sure seems they weren't prepared for that number.

Assuming Jon Jones beats Hendo in his next fight, here's how i see the rest of the contenders (not counting people he's already beaten).

1-Alexander Gustafsson
2-Forrest Griffin (providing he beats Tito, of course)
3-Phil Davis
4-Thiago Silva (depending on how his battle with Shogun goes)
5-Little Nog
6-Igor Pokrajac
7-Krystof Soszynski (unless he's retired, i guess the jury is still out on that one)
8-Jason Brilz
9-James Te Huna
10-Stanislav Nedkov

unless i'm missing some people (am i?), this should be pretty much everyone. Not sure where or if to rank Tito. In short, the Strikeforce guys better get moved over quickly.

The only LHW with a pulse that Strikeforce has is King Mo, and he's suspended.

Cavalcante and Mike Kyle are fighting on 5/19, they'd be interesting additions. Plus i wouldn't turn down Mousasi.

I would, he's a terrible fighter who lost to Keith Jardine, and should really be fighting at middleweight.

The swelling of support around Mousasi by MMA hardcores over the last few years has been hilarious.  I truly think they thought he was amazing because he trained with Fedor for like 5 minutes.  If anyone wants to know what Mousasi vs. Jon Jones would look like, watch the third round of Mousasi vs. Ovince St. Preux.
