I forgot about all of the swearing in the first episode of Giant Robo right at the beginning.
That got me some nasty looks from the wife.

All I want to know is, were the pictures that were leaked online a year ago legit and the real thing or were they fan made?
Because if the new show looks like that, AWESOME!

Not sure how the heck that is possible and if they can pull it off, but its new Berserk anime so enjoy it while it lasts I suppose.

Veteran animator, and character design for Giant Robo, the Lunar RPGs and a certain Miura passion called iDOLM@STER, Toshiyuki Kubooka will direct the Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler animated feature, scheduled to hit Japan in January 2012. Also via the new issue of the Young Animal manga anthology, Good Smile Company & Max have a slate of Berserk figures in the works to coincide with movie.
"Golden Age" refers to 10 volume manga arc that tracks raging swordsman Guts from his discovery as new born under the hanged body of his mother, through his time with the mercenary band know as the Hawks. During the time, dark, supernatural elements begin to influence his world.
So first movie set for a January 2012 release. I spoke with Toshiyuki Morikawa at Anime Expo and he said he wants to play Griffith Again.

The first 10 mins of the new film.
I've lost a lot of interest in anime over the past several years, there's just been nothing much coming out that I've gotten into, in fact pretty much the only shows I've watched have been connected to stuff from years ago. With the possible exception of Macross Frontier this is the first thing to come out in a long time that i am looking forward too. Despite all the changes made in the original anime its still probably my favorite show and the manga is pretty much the only one i still follow. Can not wait for this.

I guess it depends on how long they are going to keep the movies going. The first arc is 3 movies? I don't remember seeing anything of the Black Swordsman stuff from the first 3 vols in the previews yet so assuming the Golden Age movies aren't a long flashback and take place in order those volumes can be added to the start of the Retribution arc. That's about 11-12 volumes i guess to each arc with the Millennium arc running a little longer. The Fantasia arcs only just started so ignoring that, that's 3 movies per arc for 9 movies. Even if they split the 9 movies over 6 years i doubt the new arc would be finished by then. The problem then is do you leave it unfinished? the last thing i would want is a rushed made up ending just for the sake of it but too many shows seem to get that treatment. I guess it all comes down to how well the first 3 movies are received.
Personally I'm just happy they are finally animating some new stuff, have no problem if its left unfinished and just go as far as they can with the material available!
For what its worth i think this is the best way to go about it. Long running manga works well as an endless TV series (ignoring the filler they usually get) but i cant remember such an adult manga getting a long TV show like this would need. Splitting each section into several movies or OVAs with a decent budget and releasing them as and when they are done is perfect.

The first volume actually does start with Guts as the Black Swordsman before flashing back. And the teasers for the new animation did show us some of Skull Night who does appear in the Golden Age era of the comic that was never depicted in the original anime series.

I would agree with this but ultimately I would hope they could do this after the manga was finished which at this rate could probably be never :) . Still I hope they can do as much as they can.
