I only ask that very specific 'current events' questions stay in the other purotopia thread. So... ask away!

Disagree. NOAH has NOTHING on New Japan now, so they shouldn't be dropping shit to them.

But agree with first post. BIG BOSS MOTHERFUCKING SUGI should be the next GHC Champion for easily being the best wrestler in the company.

Alan, send Sugiura a big poster, ask him to sign it as this ビッグ・ボス・スギ. Perhaps he'll oblige! BIG BOSS SUGI.

That's a negative.  Saving money on bandwidth, y'all cost too much and I am saving money to buy a house with the missus before December 31st.  Text is much cheaper.

what about putting the moves up on youtube and linking them via the bio's on the site? surely that's the easiest and cheapest option?

All the Dragon Gate moves would get DMCA'd or whatever by Gaora and he'd get his account killed 400 times.

WHAT!  There's lots of different websites out there where stuff can be uploaded and won't get DCMA'd.  Hell, what about that Japanese site with lots of videos that isn't youtube?

Who! Which wrestler has improved the most this year?

WHY!  I think at one point RD put some NOAH moves up and the same thing happened, and I've gotten complaints from people that put my moves up on youtube just to get them removed (they thought it was me that complained, but it wasn't).  Apparently wrestling promotions care about that, even though I never got a single nasty gram from any wrestling promotion, even Hustle which kinda surprised me.  So yea, youtube wouldn't be an option and I am too lazy to find an alternative.  Plus I have thousands of videos, sounds like a lot of work.

Does New Japan have a different commentator depending on what TV station is covering the event. Like is it a different playbyplay guy for Samurai TV than for SXW or WPW.

DG owns niconico channel where you can watch match if you pay. NJ has IWTV, noah their site, of course they know about tube, and do what they think is right.

From Misawa tribute page: -On June 18th there was a meeting convened by Hase with the heads of NJ, AJ and NOAH, plus wrestling-friendly government figures like Shinobu Kandori (now a senator) to discuss regulating pro wrestling. Hase had a heart scare in 1990 which led to NJ having a doctor at ringside, but no other promotion does this. The promotions were all enthusiastic, and considering that they're also on good terms there's a chance this will lead somewhere. Interesting to note that Dragon Gate, which currently draws better than All Japan, wasn't considered worth bringing to the table. Regulations would include licensing, annual medical exams, and pensions for retirees.
Ditch when did Dragon*Gate start making more money than AJPW?

It might not make as much, but I'm reasonably sure it does. They have more shows, they have about the same number of 5000+ and 2500+ attendance cards, and DG seems stronger than AJ (and NOAH) in the Osaka region.

When is hard to say.

Well he said draws, not profit, although I don't think anyone has any idea what the promotion's profit margin is as only New Japan announces theirs (I guess since it is owned by a publicly traded company).  But the drawing difference between the two fluctuates, for their last big tours, for Dragon Gate's Maximum Gate tour they averaged 1,195 per show over 13 shows (that includes their always inflated Korakuen Hall total, they claim it holds 300 more people then every other promotion does) and for All Japan's Cross Over Tour they averaged 1,258 per show over 8 shows.  It also should be pointed out that on that tour Dragon Gate had all 5 of their titles defended while All Japan didn't have a Triple Crown defense.  Over the course of the year I have no idea, that would be way too much addition, but I'd think that All Japan would come up ahead in average even though DG does get a few more in the 2K to 5K range they also have more in the 200 to 500 range.  But DG runs a hell of a lot more shows then All Japan, so a grand total would no doubt have DG with a higher attendance.

I was typing that while Ditch responded, so I wasn't intentionally ignoring Ditch's post :)  The dog distracted me in mid-post.... damn dog.

Seeing as AJPW was in debt about 4 or 5 years ago if I recall correctly I would say its around then where DG started to make more money.

Yea, but in the meantime they have gotten at least one pretty big sponsor (I don't keep up with finances of wrestling promotions that well, I just remember when it was announced).  Those Hello Kitty people.  Anyway, past debt wouldn't effect who is making more money in 2008/2009, New Japan was in serious debt five years ago also but in 2008 (as far as we know) they had the best year financially.  You can tell that All Japan is doing better then they were as from January 2005 to July 2006 they didn't run Sumo Hall one time (which is the time period you were referring to), but now they run it three times a year.  But its all speculative since no one knows what either promotion's finances are.  Dragon Gate does appear to be doing well though, which is great.... the more healthy promotions the better.  Last I heard Z1 was the last "major' promotion in money trouble but that was six months ago, not sure how they are doing currently.
