Would HGTV please begin producing a series called "House Hunters: After the Bubble" where the producers go back and visit these obnoxious people who dropped half a million on a house with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, but now after the housing collapse, their "dream homes" are in foreclosure and they're living with their sister-in-law and her six kids in one cramped apartment?

I can never remember which thread we talk about these things in but since this is TV related it goes here.

Adam Sessler is out at G4. Tonight's X-play is his last.

Apparently - contract negotiations went sour.

In other words the low-rated network didn't have any actual money to pay him.

I still say animated is the best way to go with that project, except I fear the involvement of CGI... and, yes, Disney.

Stephen King and Disney.  There's two concepts I never thought I'd see married together.
And if you can't enjoy a horror flick while high and surrounded by black people, what the fuck are you even doing watching horror flicks?

You know, a lot of the time your miserable misanthropic attitude annoys me...  But on this, I 100% agree.  That show could be a beautiful blend of serious emotional trauma and cathartic laughter at people.

Well fuck this place. It took 144 characters or less to kill all the buzz we'd built up in this thread. "We take pro wrestling seriously" sounds like code for Davey Richards vs. Davey Richards in a Davey Richards on a pole match. Inside a Steel Davey Richards.

So, I started a blog....https://farwell3d.wordpress.com/

This is sad news.  Adam was the only guy I felt was legitimate on that show.  Morgan and Blair might play games and know about them but Adam really had that something that made me value his opinion more.  I like Morgan but I don't think she can carry the show from here on.  And Blair is at best annoying and at worst really annoying so so much for him.  The only thing really at this point is for them to bring in someone that's similar to Adam in terms of the respect he has.  Without that Xplay's screwed.  Considering all the awesome gaming shows they had before the Comcast takeover it sucks that the last of the shows is likely going to bite the dust at some point.  This really sucks.

The obsession over stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and open kitchen floorplans slays me, especially when the buyers admit that they don't cook.  They're not Emeril Lagasse, standard appliances are enough for daily living They would be better served trying to find a home with more square footage, flex rooms that can be used for several purposes, a bigger lot, or a screened-in porch/patio they could use 10 months a year.  But no, they MUST have granite with dark cabinets.  No oak, please!  *rolls eyes*

Looks awesome, until you have to clean it (stainless steel) or you drop a big ass pot on it and it cracks in half (granite).

My parents love the show.  I am hit or miss with most of it.  Some of the houses are perfectly fine and don't need anything but a little fine tuning but the prospective buyers act like the entire kitchen needs and overhaul and everything else.

I'm still waiting for the day when the mainstream media figures out that granite counter tops are radioactive.

I watch it almost every night. It's amazing when the buyers go into a new house with perfectly fine appliances and fixtures, yet insist they need to renovate right away.  WTF?  Nothing is ever good enough.  And they expect a million-dollar home, but they live in California and have a $300,000 budget.  I wish they would show the realtors laughing at the buyers when they come in with their champagne demands and Champale budgets.

Best thing was one actual episode where the realior actually said "I don't know what I'm going to do here.  This guy wants Champagne on a Natty Light budget."

Wait wait wait, I totally forgot! There is/was a show like this! It's called "My First Sale" and the episodes I've seen are absolutely hilarious.

I guess that's more of a bookend for "My First Place" though. Those people are just as stupid.

The one I'll always remember was an episode with an American couple who had been living in Jamaica but were moving to Boston, and wanted to find a condo with a lot of open space b/c they basically wanted to throw a big party every weekend, like they had done in the Caribbean.  They were really obnoxious about the whole thing and I was really hoping the "six months later" segment at the end would show that their neighbors were suing them for having loud, noisy parties every weekend and disturbing the peace.

The only home-buying show that's fairly realistic is Property Virgins.  Sandra Rinomato hosted for 5-6years, and radio personality Egypt has taken over now.  They will straight up tell folks Your budget and what you want are not on the same page. The people on this show are all about location.  I MUST LIVE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD OR I'LL DIE!  Well, stop breathing, dummies, because your chosen neighborhood is too expensive for you.  But the idiots stay committed to the end and will decide not to buy a house, and remain in their creepy uncle's basement for another five years.  Good grief.

I have no desire to mess with stainless either, but it looks handsome enough, it beats the white we have now, and all black looks a bit bland and shows even more gunk. Seems like a pick your poison kind of deal. As for countertops, Corian doesn't get enough love. Even with having to polish it once a year, you can buff out any scratch on it, it looks great, nice rock solid surface, no radon from granite (even though whatever it gives off is negligible anyway, with fresh carpet giving even more harmful fumes), and it's pretty affordable.

Trust me lad, black is way better than white. And I never need to clean it (no kids mind).
