Winter wheat = a standard witbier that people are trying to go out of the box with by having it in the winter instead of the summer. It's probably a good five-six months old at this point.
Wow, I have NO MEMORY of posting that, ha.  Anyway, this was unlike any witbier or weissbier I've ever had...much darker in color (like dunkelweizen dark but without the dunkel flavor), not any 'heavier' but with that odd sweetness that just tasted wrong ("uncomfortable" is the best word I can come up with, even though it makes no sense).

Had a pint from a of a special Red Racer dry-hopped red ale and a pint of Brooklyn Soricha Ale at Cask Night at St. Augustine's here in Vancouver.  Got the last pint of the Red Racer ale from their special cask, and it was decent.  It was a little warm, had a vague, juice-like initial flavour that turned hoppy as you got into it, and was quite pleasant.  The Soricha Ale from Brooklyn Brewing was excellent as well, tasting as advertised with a spicy lemon finish.  Definitely the better of the two.

I always knew it wouldn't be long before a fighter goes legal on the athletic commissions for their ineptitude.

Never in a million years did I think Nick Diaz would be that fighter.

Sorachi Ace is one of my favorite beers ever. Desperately trying to recreate it somehow with the 4 oz of Sorachi hops I have....can't get close.

To all my guys in the northeast: Narragansett Summer Ale is SO FUCKING GOOD for what it is. 10 bucks for a sixer of tallboys (at a grocery store, so there's a markup there), and it's ridiculously easy drinking and tasty. All it is is two row and citra, and it's a beautiful thing.

Went to Lagunitas this past sunday to meet an old friend for dinner.  I had a Sorachi Ace Red on Firkin, a Gueuze, and their special 4/20 beer, Waldo.  Twas a good night.  The Gueuze was pitch perfect.
Yeah, that happened.

Anyone in the Maryland area? Go to DuClaw. It's awesome

16 4oz samplers for 21 bucks. Pretty damn good deal, especially considering that at least a quarter of those were high alcohol.

I also went on another beer run (sigh) at a fantastic Maryland store...pic coming when I get the shit outta my car.

I was so happy last night (on top of the whole no-hitter thing, of course) that the main stand on the field level at Angel Stadium is selling a few Bootleggers beers.  Great to see them supporting local breweries and giving, by far, the best beer option that stadium has ever had.

Felt a little adventurous last night on my monthly pub night with friends, and tried a lambic for the first time.  Didn't catch the name as it was noisy as shit in there (I just said "Hey, I've never tried a lambic, y'all have any?" and was served one).  It was delicious; a friend asked to try it and she described it as 'like raspberry champagne' which is the best description I can muster myself.

If it was Lindemans, try another one...Lindemans are largely artificially flavored and very sweet, while traditional lambic is tart and made with actual fruit. Mmmmm...lambic

Have you tried anything from Crispin? I bought a four-pack of Browns Lane on vacation in March, and it was fantastic. Even if they've been bought out by MillerCoors recently, I don't care. It's a fantastic product.

What do y'all usually pay for Goose Island sixers? They've just started popping up in PA, and I got a six each of 312 and Summertime...for 10.49 apiece? That seems like way too much IMO.

I'm a big fan of Woodchuck's limited release Summer cider and their 802 cider (usually found in their variety pack, but there is a beer warehouse nearby that sells six packs).  I tried their Belgian White cider, and it isn't bad.

Angry Orchard is pretty good, but I'm not a big fan of Crispin or Harpoon.

Boulevard opening up to Maryland in June. First New Belgium, now this? Oh darn, more reasons for me to go to DuClaw. Dammit.

This weekend's haul (no pics)
6x Goose Island Summertime
6x Goose Island 312
1x Fritz Briem Berliner Weisse
1x Haand Sweet & Sour
1x Monk's Cafe Flemish Red
1x Petrus Aged Pale Ale

Sours ftw. How much is Goose by those of you that get it? 10.49 per sixer seemed to be a lot IMO

I was stoked a couple days ago to walk into Total Wine and find they had Rouge Maple Bacon Ale.  Sadly, it didn't live up to its awesome label.  It smelled of nothing more than sickeningly sweet maple, tasted watered down and just left an unpleasant smokey finish on the tongue.  I picked up a couple more as trade bait, but at $13+ per bottle, it's not something I'll be drinking again.

I highly recommend Three Floyds Zombie Dust. Terrific APA. Not easy to find, but scoop it up if you can find it.

New Torpedo is markedly better than old Torpedo and old Torpedo was fucking great.  Drink 16 of them in a row.

Duvel is the gold standard for Belgian strong pale ales. It's arguably the best, and unarguably the one all others are judged against. If you don't have a tulip glass, or at least a snifter, don't open it until you do.

Drink it when you've got a bit of time to spend. You may note that the bottle says "pour unhurriedly". They are not kidding. Think about the slowest you have ever poured a beer. Pour slower than that. If you do so, there will still be a huge head. If you don't, the head will come bursting out of the glass and onto whatever surface happens to be below it.

Allow the head to retract somewhat before sipping. The very best in Belgian pales manage an aggressive flavor that is still very light in the mouth and drinkable. Duvel has notes of pear, citrus and yeast, creating a nice balance of sweetness for the bitterness of the hops.
Tip:
When holding a duvel glass (or a tulip glass) put your hand around it at the top and turn it a bit sideways. Then pour the drink on the spot where your thumb is. Glass is warmer there and doesn't get you as much foam as otherwise.

My dad own's a bar in belgium and he thought me how, there are belgians that like duvel without any head. (After a duvel on the other side...)

Founder's Mountain Brown is the best (semi-widely available) bottled beer available at the moment.  If you never drank Frangelic on tap at the brewery, this is about as close as you'll get. Same idea with unbelievable hazelnut flavor. Incredible beer that leaves you shuddering after every sip.

Both are like if coffee was actually good.
