Y'all are lucky: I went to Japan three years ago and my wife REFUSED to go to a pro wrestling event.

I did get to watch some Sumo, though.

I got my wife to go to a NOAH and Zero-one show.  No complaining either!

Directions from Fanspot (first floor of Korakuen)...
leave Fanspot & take a right, go up the steps, keep walking past the Dennys & over the bridge, pass the subway station on your left... after the McDonalds, take a left and that's the street the Puroresu Mania store is on (like a block down on the right; upstairs; they should have a wooden sign out if they are open and Tiger Mask is on the window)

There is another store just past that & across the corner that has tons of figures, etc. This is on like the 2nd floor of a white building. Keep going down that street & there should be another store on the next cross street down, just to your left in front of the intersection. This one is really hidden, on like the 3rd floor of a building but I think the puro symbols are on a sign.
Just want to say these directions are spot on.  They were really really helpful.  Thanks.

Hey guys...

so, August is getting closer and so is G1 climax, I'm pretty excited, to say the least. ;)

Now, can anyone tell me if buying tickets at Sumo Hall is as easy as buying tickets at Korakuen Hall seems? Do they understand at least a little bit of english? And should I be worried to be sent home again without getting any tickets (from reading Ditch's report I guess not, but still...)? Do they sell combo-tickets for final-group-stage-day and the finals? Would I be able to get tickets for those shows somewhere esle (fanshops? maybe even Korakuen?)?

Same goes for DDT at Shinkiba, though I guess getting tickets there should be pretty easy.

AAAND...Seeing that August 5 is really joshi heavy...Should I go to SUN, Neo or JWP? I'm going with someone who doesn't like women's wrestling at all so I'm trying to find a show that wouldn't be too brutal for her to watch. ;)

Alright guys, I hope you can help me out at least a little bit and thanks in advance. :)

Since you can be pretty sure Sumo Hall won't sell out, I'm told you can get "emergency" tickets cheap before the show. Where, I dunno.

DDT at 1st Ring is easy, just walk up and pay. 500 yen when I went, plus 500 yen each for various wrestler-grilled food items if you're hungry.

Right, I read that in your report and it sounds like a good idea in theory, but as a vegetarian I gotta be a little more careful when it comes to eating in Japan.

Any more help is of course welcome and appreciated. :)

They had fried rice with veggies, that looked mighty tasty. Plus there's the vending machine option because in Japan there are more vending machines than people.

New Japan has opened a Toukon Shop in Suidobashi. You can get your G1 tickets there. One lady there spoke english to me.
a map is here; http://shop.njpw.co....hp?NO=shop_info

I would go to the two shows at Itabashi. JWP is probably the best out of the three. Hey, if she likes it you might talk her into staying for the second show.

For those who are in Japan and can read a bit of Japanese,  you can often go to Lawson's (convenience store chain) and purchase tickets for local events through Loppi, a sort of ticket machine. You place your order, get the receipt and take it to the cashier to pay that day. You can't use credit card to pay sometimes though.

my host in Japan bought tickets for me at Lawson, it seems to be very easy but you need to read some japanese (maybe there are some ticket machines in jap/english)
maybe sellers in the convenience store can help you buying it.

This would go very badly unless you speak Japanese.

IBUKI #16 is on 8.5 as well at Shin-kiba.

That and DDT @ Korakuen with which I'm gonna go. As much as I would love to see joshi live, a rather big event for DDT should be a little more entertaining (sure they will be running shin-kiba all week but really...who cares about those smaller events? ;)).

Unless, of course, Irving posts some super sick cards for the joshi shows...

In my opinion IBUKI is by far the best joshi promotion around at the moment so even without a card anounced yet i'd pick their show over anything else. After that i'd say the JWP show is most likely to be the best of that day.

I'm not a fan of SUN but since you like DDT you might enjoy them since they do a lot of US style "sports entertainment" stuff though not near as wacky as DDT gets...

And 8/4 is a "Lady's Ring Festival" at Shin-kiba. It's a promotional show for the magazine that is replacing Lady's Gong. Supposedly all the various joshi companies are going to participate in this one.

Don't take her to NEO if that's the case.. you can't go wrong with either JWP or Ibuki.. SUN has the bigger names however and a wrestler like Natsuki*Taiyo can easily convert a non-joshi fan. She might not get interested in the hard fighting style of Ibuki as it's straight wrestling.

I was considering starting a 'help' topic on the ROH forum but then I realized that the LAST thing that should be encouraged is for ROHbots to go to Japan. If you thought chants were awkward before...

Haha, unfortunately, yes ;) I just forgot to post in here, I guess.

But I want to say thanks to everybody who has posted tips here, some of them were very helpful. AND, I suggest everyone who thinks about going to just do it, because you definitely won't regret it. Just...try to avoid going in August, the heat is absolutely brutal. And if you should happen to go to Sumo Hall, make sure you don't end up in one of those boxes, because sharing those between 4 fat people is not very comfortable.

Talking about Sumo Hall...in row 10 on the side of the entrances during the G1 finals I noticed some fellow foreigners, any chance they also post here?
