PAS: We get a move to Arena Mexico for Dia de los Ninos and boy can you tell the difference between Coliseo and the cathedral
TKG: Ah the annual Dia de los Ninos show. Something really communist about that whole idea. I mean Mothers Day, Fathers Day those are good Capitalist Hallmark holidays. Day to celebrate the Welfare of the Child...can't get more Marxist than that.... Its also the big anniversary of the Arena if that helps wash the taste of Das Capital out of your mouth while viewing this.
What Worked
PAS: Super Porky, Virus and Blue Panther are about all you can ask for in a tecnico trio (except to ask that they play rudos) and Arena Mexico Guerreros is inspired Guerreros, so this match was really great. We got some nice exchanges to start, and the first fall has Virus with a great standing guillotine neckbreaker for a finish. Second fall is short with the rudos hitting all of their triple teams, including throwing Virus in the air (like the Spirit Squad finish) at the same time Olimpico hit a springboard splash. Third fall had a great looking dive train especially Porky's rolling somersault off the ring apron, which must have been like getting hit with sleeper sofa. Olimpico has looked like crap since adding 75 pounds of muscle, but he looked really great here. Could of gone longer, but this was a really great WCWSN lucha trios match
TKG: Porky was flying around for most of this. What Phil is describing as a "standing guillotine neckbreaker"was even cooler than that as it was almost an upside down inverted air raid crash. Virus has Olimpico in both a hammerlock and a guillotine and then just drops down. All the Olimpico v Virus sections were great and pretty much this was good from start to finish. this was all about great technicos in front of a Children's day crowd.
PAS: Main event was mostly an angle, with L.A. Park turning rudo. There was some fun stuff, especially between Negro Casas and Perrito, and it was definitely spirited. Still more of an angle then a match. Also Damien and Aguila as the fake Mexico's Most Wanted really stink. This is the worst I can remember Damien ever looking, and if Aguila ain't going to do a crazy dive he is useless
TKG: The backstage interviews today were all with La Parka...about how when gimmick was originally created he was supposed to be a rudo but the crowd turned him technico, about how he has rivalries that exist outside of the world of technico/rudo division(his rivalry with Doc Wagner) and how if crowd treats him as technico or rudo it doesn't matter when he's about proffesionalism and the big pay days...etc. So nice set up for the turn. And the turn itself was pretty fucking awesome as he is a technico and has the rest of the technicos backs but doesn't care about Mistico and actively dislikes him. Slowly the Casas' get sick of this too as you need to be part of the whole technico team. When the crowd gives Parka shit for all this, Parka full on mugs and doesn all his comedy shtick to elicit more boos. Most of that storytelling takes place in second and third falls. First fall is wrestling based and Parka really uninvolved and fun first fall. I'd argue with Phil about this being worst that I've seen Damian as he looked absolutely great in first fall. He was just working at double speed hitting everything well and eating everything big. The problem came really during second and third falls where he was about double teams with Aguila. As all their attempts to do double team stuff looked ass like they were going in slow motion to get timing half right. First fall was really great. Second and third falls were more angle than match and the actual wrestling parts of the last two angle based falls was off.
