I'll start things off with Sweden's Slaughter of the Bluegrass!

"Blinded By Fear" (At the Gates cover)

"Punish My Heaven" (Dark Tranquility cover)
KrisZ
Now this topic is in my wheelhouse. I'll start with this one

A Perfect Circle covering What's Going On by Marvin Gaye

TimLivingston

I actually saw them perform this live last year and it was fucking incredible.
J.T.
Paul Anka covering Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" made me want to cut my wrists.

Phish's cover of Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy With It" and The Gourds' rockabilly version of "Gin & Juice" are fucking awesome.
Evil Antler God
Ozzy circa Prince of Darkness was really good for these

Kenn Haspel
Any fan of Scrubs should know this one...

SDAusmus
Revolting Cocks cover Rod Stewart:

KrisZ
This is the hot new cover song. Daughtry doing Poker Face by Lady Gaga

madcap
Was it Ben Folds Five that covered Snoop's "Bitches Ain't Shit"?

Yep, that would be a true statement.
SgtPepper9876
I know this was featured elsewhere on the boards a few months back... and it's just as awesome now as it was then:

Seej
You did say bizarre, right?

Evil Antler God

One of the few odd covers that got a lot of airplay. I remember first seeing it on a TV in a restaurant, and was like, what
Rev

A Kazookeylele is bizarre, right?

Stiff Shots
I was gonna nominate Devo's canonical version of "Satisfaction." Luckily, I found this first:

Lacelle

My Way by Sid Vicious
JL Sigman
I believe this would be relevant to the board's interests, considering the Talking Heads love...

The Used - Burning Down the House

And for sheer WTFery

Seether - Careless Whisper
James F'n X
First, a cover that's gotten a ton of airplay here in Seattle at least...

Polyphonic Spree covering Nirvana? Why not?
bigtotoro

Obligatory.
The Batboy
Jarvis covers "Eye of the Tiger"

and on a related note, the definitive video for the Shatner/Joe Jackson/Ben Folds cover of "Common People":

I prefer this one (using a cello)

U2 covering Johnny Cash in a ska style

and something weird I just found now, Jackson's Bad in the style of Cash

Cameron Swift
Ok, in terms of bizarre, I think this may just win the thread

And I don't want to be posting more videos, but check out Ian Brown's covers of Thriller and Billie Jean. They're... something.

Not exactly bizarre but it's certainly a doozy

Spoiler - Electrifying

No Dread Zeppelin yet?

Stairway to Heaven...now with added Godzilla!
Kenn Haspel
It wasn't until I put Thing A Week One on during this morning's drive to work that I thought to add this one... Why? Because it's no longer "bizarre" to me, but the definitive version.

That country At The Gates cover was brilliant. The original is one of my all-time favourite songs.

I remember hearing that Spoiler song years ago. I love it now as much as I did then. Which is to say: a lot.

There was a cover I was specifically after, but it's an arse to find on You Tube. I also met with the sobering realisation that the site, when you type 'smells like' suggests 'team spirit'. Are people really that stupid?! Anyway:

The Magnificent 7
Shane MacGowan's version of Cracklin' Rosie is awesome and definitely different in tone to the original Neil Diamond tune. Not really bizarre, though. Not much in music would I consider bizarre, cover or otherwise.

stoner
Who you gonna call?

and yet more drunken English thrash covers

NateroB
I love the covers man. There's nothing like seeing somebody take something that is already famous, accepted and praised and put their own spin on it.

I stumbled across this website, everyone should check it out.

This kind of stuff makes me want to hear apocolyptica with someone actually singing those metallica tunes.
SgtPepper9876
This thread needs some Hayseed Dixie...

Seej
Sonic Youth going all Karen Carpenter with Superstar

Hanson covering the Three Dog Night classic Never Been To Spain

The Swedish industrial band Pain covering ELO

Against Me! do Dylan's Wagon Wheel
Ligerbusa
Faith No More covers - http://www.filewatcher.com/b/ftp/ftp.bungl...Covers.0.0.html
Stuttsy
driver

Framing Hanley covering Lil Wayne's Lollipop
Chris
Weedeater does Skynard's "Gimme Back My Bullets". They also cover CS&N's "Southern Cross", which really rocks....

NateroB
Forgot to mention this in my first post

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJu770gscW8

30 Seconds to Mars- Kanye West's Stronger
Uchuu Majin ZZ
Crazy SKB`s ( pro-wrestling 666 ) old band Hightechnology Suicide does a mix of Paint it black by The Stones and Iron Man by Black Sabbath, there`s also a hint of Paranoid mixed in. The Song`s called Paint it black sabbath.

http://music-stinks.com/?p=166 Note the photo with one of the Headhunters. ( Hope this won't cause any trouble )
The Erotic Terrorist

I'll say this is more "sad" than "bizarre", but the first thing that popped into my head was Celine Dion and (thankfully) one hit wonder Anastacia singing AC/DC.

A Finnish death metal band covers The Doors, complete with Cookie Monster vocals.

Bluegrass band Iron Horse does a bunch of covers of hard rock acts. This is their version of the Ozzy classic.

Vitamin String Quartet does Another One Bites The Dust.

Saw two girls at an indy show over the weekend use this as entrance music and it was pretty awesome.
stoner

toxicity on violins, and yes it rocks.
Stuttsy

I dunno if its necessarily bizarre but I've always liked this version of Jane Says by a (very, very attractive) female.

Pete Yorn's acoustic cover of Dancing in the Dark, complete with an assist from "Oh Oh Ohhhhhh" guy
Kailen
Industrial cover/remix of Metallica

Continuing the Metallica theme, here's some Battery a capella style

SULLY
Really creepy and trippy Foreigner cover.

Honestly, I've never heard an Apocalyptica version of a Metallica track and not preferred the cello version. But then again I am cool with classical music to start with.

I don't know how bizarre it really ranks as, but Johnny Cash's version of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage always blew me away. One, because I hated the original pretty much but loved his version, and two it's not ever really a song I listened to and thought "oh yeah, Johnny Cash is totally going to redo this someday".

At rick of stirring up a hornets' nest, I loathe most of the Cash covers I've heard. His 'Rusty Cage' is dull, plodding and lacking in dynamism. It was a novelty when I first heard it, but it's now an annoyance on every third UFC PPV.
Tofuloaf
Surprised that Northern Kings have yet to come up in a bizarre covers battle.

Take on Me

Definitely the weirdest - the same guys doing Kylie Minogue's "I should be so lucky"

And my favourite

Gonzo

Seether - Careless Whisper

Worst damn cover song ever. The remains of Andrew Ridgeley's career are spinning in their grave with enough force to register on the nearest seismograph.
Gonzo
And we need some Tenacious D here, just because Tenacious D is great.

DEAN
Chet Atkins does "Heart of Glass" by Blondie.
