How is it that we don't have a running thread for the funniest hour of the day?
Last night's Daily Show was particuarly good with Rob Riggle from Iraq and that "America to the Rescue" segment was SO goddamn good. I would have lovedLOVED to Obama's reaction as he watched in the green room. Open to close Stewart was just great.
Colbert is off the charts good nearly every night. If you watch every night the show is even better as you get to know the running jokes and can almost predict how Stephen will react. The Colbert/Branson interview trainwreck wasn't nearly as "uncomfortable" as we were led to believe. Really Branson just came off odder than usual, which is saying something.

Last night they returned from Vacation. The Larry Craig "Trapped in the Closet" was one of the best Daily show segments ever. The Best part was "R Kelly" at first trying to justify Craig's actions then he finally admitted how gay it was.
Also the Jeff Garlin interview was very funny as well.

Both episodes were very fun last night. I work nights so on most days miss the show when it first airs on the Comedy Network here in Canada ... but I luck out because they replay them at 4pm the next evening. Just glad they are back from vacation again.

America to the Rescue was crazy funny, Stewart was just so great with his delivery. It was the Obama episode if that helps you track it down...
Trapped in the Closet was also a thing of beauty. One can only hope this is the beginning of Cordrey back full-time.

Eh, Al Franken did the same gag (bringing the "courtesy basket" onto the set for his interview and mocking Jon about it) about three years ago, but he went he extra-mile and kept calling Jon "Craig" to needle him.

The look of genuine disbelief on Colbert and Stewart's face that Ricky Gervais had won the Emmy was great. They tried to recover with the group hug but you could tell all three were miffed.

I can't figure out how a 4 time a week show can end up in the same category as a 1-time special.
I eagerly await the war on tony bennett.
As good as the Daily Show is, I really think Colbert this year has been funnier a majority of the time.
I did love the writers set up on the emmy's with Colbert getting beat up by all his writers including punching himself off at the end. That and Conan's bit with his writers being illegal workers and him driving off with them in a pickup truck.

It's not a case of the Academy deciding between an entire year of Colbert shows and the Tony Bennett special. The Academy just looks at a submitted show. So in awarding "best individual performance," they would be judging how Colbert performed on the one Colbert Report episode that was formally submitted vs. how Tony Bennett performed on his special. It's all a little silly, really.

I've liked the new team of people they've brought in on Daily Show. With a lot of their people moving on like colbert, carrell, Coudry and Helms, i think the new group have stepped it up.
I think Oliver's segments have been pretty great. I loved the bit with him and the senior black correspondent at one of the debates playing football in the empty press room.

No mention of the Lynne Cheney interview?
Lynne: "It’s been more than six years (since 9/11). And that is not an accident. … There were many attacks between 1993 and the World Trade Centers coming down in 2001.”
Stewart: "You know (the terrorists) have been doing that all these past six years ... you know the Spanish bombing, the English bombing, and then all the bombings in Iraq..."
Lynne: "Yes, but we're talking about American interests."
WTF? Terrorist attacks on our greatest allies don't count??? What I wouldn't have given for him to go all Chris Matthews on her after that.

How come the only video I can get to play on the dailyshow website is an add for Courtyard? I click on "Lynne Cheney Pt. 1" and get the ad. Then it says: "Up Next: Lynne Cheney Pt. 2" with options to play or replay. Either one gets me the same ad.
