She had her chance?

Jim comes to her, literally WEEKS before her wedding, and tells her he loves her. Even though we can assume she feels the same, she was engaged to Roy. Leaving her fiancee, and cancelling her wedding wasn't an easy decision I'm sure.

I understand why Jim waited so long, but if anyone was a dick in that situation (and I personally don't think either character was) it was Jim for his timing.

Pam isn't stupid, she KNEW Jim liked her for years. Now that she can't have him, we're supposed to feel sorry for her? Not me. I await the end of this season where Jim dumps Karen and Pam is back with Roy by that point.

I know some people get pissy on here when we over-analyze this show but I'm wondering if Jan knows that picture is floating around. I can't imagine her being completely cool with the situation and asking Michael to meet her at his condo if she knew a good portion of the company has seen a pic of her wearing only a bikini bottom. I mean, couldn't she lose her job or something?

And if I am over-analyzing, pardon me. Insomnia is kicking my ass again.

I was waiting for Pam to just cry her eyes out and tonight she finally did. She could have given Jim the wrong advice and hoped his relationship with Karen was on the rocks, but she did the right thing and helped him out (and yeah, I know she likes Karen as well). I really, really like Fisher, she makes it work so well.

Geez, I got freakin' weepy during her crying scene because you knew exactly what she was feeling. It's such a difficult situation for her because obviously she does have feelings for Jim but she honestly is too nice to be a bitch and try to sabotage the relationship. But again, she does like Jim and wishes she could be the one in Karen's shoes. Such a conflicting situation. Kudos to Fischer for such a great performance.
offspring515
I know Pam isn't stupid, yes she knew Jim liked her. He knew she liked him too. Lots of people have been in that situation....you like, or even love, someone you know but one or both of you isn't in the position to make something happen with it.

As was said above, these characters are very real. In most sitcoms Jim comes to Pam, says "I love you" and she falls into his arms and that's it. I think that Pam calling off the wedding shows that she KNOWS she made a mistake in not going after Jim earlier. So yes, I do feel sorry for her. She made a mistake...something we've all done. Now she finds herself in the position Jim was in last season...and she's trying to do the same thing Jim did, hide her feelings so that the other person can be happy.

And Lucy I'm thinking Jan doesn't know yet about the picture leaking out. When she finds out.....he he he.

Anyone else catch that the breast pump woman(cannot remember her name for the life of me) quit, and that she is seemingly filing some sort of complaint or suit against Michael or the company?

With the picture, and this thing with the breast pump woman....Michael is SO getting fired.
Robert
Just a heads up... everyone should check out the deleted scenes from last week's episode if they haven't yet. There are only four but they are all FANTASTIC and Creed steals the show once again!

Goddamn awesome episode yet again. Andy became even more unlikeable, while Dwight became more sympathetic than ever before. I loved that he and Jim were perfect together on their sale, despite their bickering before it. Angela grew a bit as well, and I loved her "I hate those two people more than anyone on Earth". Stanley hanging Ryan out to dry was awesome... so awesome. Phyllis' makeover was just disturbingly great, too.

Funniest episode of the season for me I think. I loved this all the way around. SOOO many awesome, quotable, funny lines and moments. No Creed, but Jesus, f'n tremendous episode regardless.
AERO
Evil abound

Evil Stanley leaving Ryan to the wolves, then taunting him after.

Evil Andy, just being Andy.

Even Evil Phyllis (although unintentional) blowing up Jim's spot to Karen.
NickMD
I really felt for Dwight. I finally watched season 1 (it only had 6 episodes, right?) and he was such a dick in the first season. Then you have this season where he shows some heart and shows that he's actually a great guy in his own weird way. Him comforting Pam last week sealed it for me.

As for him tonight, I was confused, taken aback, slightly angered, and sad all at the same time. It's like when it comes to being competitive Andy actually proved he's that much more ruthless than Dwight is. What a heel. I almost wish Karen didn't say anything after that hug and it was kept silent, but it's not a big deal.

I have to admit though that as much as a dick as Andy is, I laughed at his take on the Oompa Loompa song. That was great. And Stanley ruled it with him feeding Ryan to the wolves and laughing really hard afterwards.
spum66
Just fucking awesome. The start of the season was very good, but not season 2 good. Dare I say they're pretty darn close to even now?

Favorie parts:

1) Dwight getting psyched to Kickstart My Heart

2) Making Dwight and Angela sympathetic with almost no effort

3) Stanley getting revenge on Ryan for thinking he hit on his daughter

I think with Andy they are underlining the difference between the Stamford attitude and the Scranton attitude, sort of like how when Josh leveraged his position for a better job offer, and Jim said Michael would never do something like that. Andy is doomed, Angela will slowly pick him to pieces and he won't even see it coming.
Grandpa Munster
I was ready to throw my remote at the tv when Phyllis mentioned Jim's 'Pam crush' to Karen.
Great episode even if they didn't use Toby, Creed, or Kevin ( he was there, but in a small dose ). Andy has become THE heel on the show and his fall can't come soon enough. I liked how he totally blew Michael's sale and Ryan looking like a pussy in front of Stanley was awesome too!

Seeing Young Dwight and Young Jim was classic too!
Mike Rose
The tag team sales pitch with the phone was classic.....There is a part of Jim that loves Michael and Dwight.

I also loved Karen's "makeover".

Just to address this, Jim also approached her after the wedding was cancelled and Pam shot him down.

No not the best timing but hell, he threw himself at her twice. It's hard for a guy to do that once
tlingman
Angela's "yuh gun dun" look at the camera at the end might be one of the greatest single moments in the history of the show.

I always thought whenever Jim says he got turned down twice, he meant when he told her he loved her first, then when he went to the office and kissed her. When did they mention he told her after the wedding was canceled?
The Lazy Samurai
He didn't. Jacey is misinformed.

I've been wrong before, but I thought that he said he approached her again after the wedding cancellation and she turned him down, prompting his Stamford move.

No, he made his move to Stamford before the wedding was canceled.

Yes he is. It is going to be amazing. I whole heartedly agree that the closing shot was one of the greatest things ever in the show, as was Dwight getting slapped, which I think is the hardest I've laughed at anything on a sitcom in YEARS. For me, this episode was definitely as good as season two's prime.
russellmania
I love that we got to see Michael's sales expertise in action, only to have Andy's ass-kissing completely ruin his pitch.
offspring515
When they cut back to Phyllis and Karen in the car with the new hair and makeup I seriously almost died. I could not stop laughing.
Shylock
I liked that little part where Karen and Phyllis were in the guy's office for the sales call and Karen's all straight faced until she sees the picture he shows of him with his wife, who has a similar hairstyle. Then Karen smiles at Phyllis since she got the point in the makeover. Phyllis eyes the camera, smirking. That scene was almost as great as the Jim/Dwight teamwork.
Mike Rose
I didn't know that Sam and Phyllis were in sales...and I've watched this show since the first season.

"Who is Bob Vance?"

"Honey, you have a lot to learn about Scranton."

Yes, I know that wasn't this episode, but I love the Karen and Phyllis dynamic.

On second viewing this might be the best episode so far this year. So many awesome things.

-Andy's Willy Wonka analogy to describe the Stamford people dropping like flies (which in itself has been a great theme so far).

-Andy in general becoming super dick, he might be the first full-fledged antagonist in the show as Dwight begins to show more heart.

-The various team-ups on the road, I always love it when they show the characters at work and give us a sense of why they are where they are now. I really like the Jim/Dwight teamwork especially.

-Ryan's face the entire way home.

-The whole callback to Dwight going behind Michael's back, which led to tonight's ending. And fuck, Angela starring down Andy from behind might be the best visual in show history. Plus Andy being ignorant to it.

See, I wasn't sure if they were going for vengeful death-dealer or just pathetic and pained with that look. So far Angela has been pretty incompetent and helpless when it comes to actually going after anyone. Yes, she hates, and glares, and holds a magnificent grudge...but she never actually succeeds at much. It would almost be out of character for her to actually do anything. She usually ends up relying on others.

It seems pretty clear that Pam, perhaps with Jim's help will save Dwight. Why else have that little bonding scene between Pam and Angela at the coffee shop if not to tweak Pam's already huge moral compass and that wierd maternal instinct she seems to have toward Angela?

The lack of Creed is completely forgiveable though just because the episode was so awesome. It would have been hilarious to see him out in the field though.

He's not in sales! :p

Oompa loomps doopity dawesome.....

Andy as the super dick is such an awesome addition to this show.

Is Ed Helms staying with the show?
I notice he is once again appearing occasionally on the Daily Show.
Hooks
I should be talking about this week's episode (which was awesome), but I want to point something out, to see if I am crazy or not.

Although I was slightly disappointed by the lack of Creed this week, everyone keeps saying there was no Creed LAST week either. Am I the only one that remembers a brief but obvious shot of Creed sitting at his computer just intetly staring at the picture of Jan on the monitor?

I just remember laughing and thinking that Creed's tiny moments are the one thing I hunt for every week.

Anyone else remember that at all, or am I just out of my mind?
TheZ

Am I the only one, who thinks Michael will get in a lot of trouble, because of how many people quit or left the office in such a short timespan? First Oscar, the fat guy, the black guy, (the pregnant woman) and now Dwight.
Mushroomjones
Oscar's back next week and I can't think Dwight will be gone forever.

Of course they will be back, but still Michael was responsible for all four quittings in the first place and there's also the Michael/Jen photo still floating around, which management will surely not be very happy about either.
piranesi
I hope they don't put Jim in charge when Michael is fired...that seems like a big story-arc that would make the eventual return to status quo seem sitcomically contrived.

Hopefully the Michael gets fired story line will only last an episode or two and they'll have a good way out of it...On the U.K. version "getting back to normal" wasn't an issue...on this version it will be.
Hesh
I have missed Creed, especially in the last episode (one before last Thursday's), when Karen deliberately decided not to sit next to Jim in the meeting, and sits next to Creed...and nothing! I thought that was a set-up for something!

I missed out on bits of this past episode (what happened with Pamela and Angela?)...but loved what I did see.

Also, something that's been bugging me; when do the characters get to watch the documentary? I'm assuming that they're sticking with the whole documentary thing...will it be televised for them?

Oh, and for those that don't, check out Dwight's blog (at NBC website)...so much good stuff there: "Songs are for children and inmates", "These pages in my diary are covered in chocolate milk", "Switched deodorant to the kind that the sailors use"...

It's really one of those things where a character (Angela), who normally you really don't like...is going to take down an even more dislikeable character. I always love that kind of thing. To use a wrestling comparison, it's kind of like when the NWO arrived in WCW and eventually the Horsemen decided to fight them. Granted, they fucked that up royally..since the Horsemen should have kicked the NWO's asses..but I digress.
MGFanJay
Flair's "YOU CAN'T FIRE ME, I'M ALRADY FIRED!" line springs to mind with that mention, and all of the Michael-related staff exodus on the show.
offspring515
I think that's one of the strongest things about this show....almost all the characters are so well rounded and so well written that you can hate them one episode and love them the next. Outside of Jim (who seems to be too nice for his own good at times) and maybe Pam, every other character has shown some undesirable aspects to their personality...

Michael: Obviously annoying, somewhat dim witted, unfunny, can be quite egotistical

Dwight: Control Freak, suck up, oddball personality, delusions of grandeur

Ryan: Comes off as something of a jerk much of the time. Comes off as a bit cocky too.

Creed: Theif, pervert

Kevin: Pervert, slow, dull

Stanley: Does NOT think things are funny, stick in the mud, sometimes comes off as a jerk.

Meredith: Drunk, sleeps around

Phyllis: Gossip

Oscar: Comes off as a jerk (the poster thing, the thermostat)

Toby: Seemingly a pot head

Kelly: Annoying, superficial

Angela: Judgmental, holier-than-though, Tightly wound (exactly!)

Karen: Hmmmm.....so far she comes off as pretty damn likeable. When the inevitable breakup with Jim comes....

Andy: Do I need to even state how much of a heel he is now?

I did catch an episode a few weeks back where he said he had been gone, working undercover for an expose at a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with footage from The Office being used as stuff that he had shot for the piece.

Haha, that's great. I missed the whole week at the beginning of December and a few later ones. Gotta go track down the episode.
