And the Office just got nominated for two Golden Globes: Best Comedy Series and Best Actor in a Comedy.

Yes, the episode is an hour long.

Yeah, the MP3 player was a Prism Durosport, to quote Jim (talking about Dwight's middle name), It's sad that I know that. :). I just searched it and someone reviewed it and said it was the worse digital audio player ever.

I think I'm reading the same review... where it mentions a "slightly radioactive" battery and you shouldn't expect to actually use the device within the first week of owning it. Awesome!

He did. And Dwight, due to having a concussion, was being very nice by giving her a cover for the MP3 player and showing her a Russian music site where she could download music for like a penny or some small amount.

Yea but the songs were in Russian

Hahaha.......why would they be in Russian

I don't know if anyone has figured out who put that site up yet. The writer's of the actual show swear it was not them.

The best part is the 80 degree click wheel, with 80 tiny gradations, none of them marked, so you have to read the manual to know what their functions are...and if you do that you learn that the position for "play song" is right next to the position for "erase song" on one side and "send report to RIAA" on the other...

Michael: CHRISTMAS IS CANCELLED!
Everyone: What!?
Dwight: What about Chanukah!?

I heart this show.

Michael: Bros before hos, why? Because you can trust your bros after your ho broke your heart... even after saying she was the only ho for you. Then there's no ho fo yo.

Ryan: I miss the days when there was only one party I didn't want to go to.

Kevin: I hear Angela's party would have double fudge brownies, but it'll also have Angela...

Darryl: When you guys get done with your... meeting, you should go to the break room - WE'RE HAVING A PARTY!

Jim: You had a rebound. You tried to forget about the girl who broke your heart...

Dwight: You've been found out. Destroy phone... destroy phone?
More hearting.

This thread is going to become unberable considering how bad it got in this thread when Pam texted Jim (or DID SHE).

Still a top-notch episode. Can't wait for Scrubs now.
elasticpants
Top-notch doesn't cover it. I'm in pain from laughing.
Tizoc
The marker scene with drunk Michael was awesome.
MGFanJay
That was the new best episode of the season. It had some great character stuff, and Jim realizing that he needs Pam (and needs to prank Dwight) to be happy at Dunder-Mifflin. I wonder who Michael called and got to accept his invitation... Jan would be the front runner.

It's either Jan or Todd F. Packer..
BigBen213
This show continues to be absoultely fantasmic top notch awesomeness.

And it's all inclusive!
Robert
Unreal episode. Too much stuff to go through. My only complaint is that we seem more and more likely headed to a season finale leaving us in the same position we were months ago where Pam is back with Roy and Jim is still longing for her. I'm all for not hotshotting things but I can't wait another summer to see them get together!

Michael was tonight's MVP. The ho speech had me crying... my roomates (continue to) think I am insane.

Rob

The ONLY thing that could have made that show better would have been if Todd Packer came in and stole Michael's new woman...and then he'd totally mark out, because Todd Packer's the man...until Todd Packer left, and then he'd be sad.

I saw Oscar and his boyfriend walk in the office and then walk back out but I didn't hear what he said. Help?
W1Riegel
I believe Oscar said "Too soon".

It looked like he was prepared to introduce his partner to his co-workers, but when he saw hate-monger Anglea singing Christmas songs, he thought twice.

Is she supposed to come off as a Nazi or am I nuts?

This episode was indeed a home run. I absolutely loved it. It was the right combination of wackines,, plus some good ol' Christmas message there, plus advancement of characters/storylines.

I loved the whole separate parties thing going on. I swear, Pam and Karen were absolutely adorable throughout all this. I also liked how the realized Anglela was miserable at how her party and they offered to just combine the parties. I thought that was pretty classy how that scene played out.

I was kind of hoping that Jim stuck to his guns about the no prank on Dwight decision. It would have been a great way to show to Pam that he's more with Karen, and it would have to have been obvious. I though when he decided against taking part in the prank, Pam's reaction just made all of that. The hug Jim shared with Karen sealed it. It would have been just another seed to plant in this bizarre love triangle (unless you count Roy and anyone else, but I'm not). It's a small point to be made, but it would have been great.
The Lazy Samurai
"I just got goosebumps".

HOT. Red sweaters suit Pam........yeah.

Robert, don't let your roommates bum your trip, the show tonight was excellent all around.

I don't even know what to cover that hasn't already been covered other than just saying the whole Roy-Pam, Pam-Jim, Jim-Karen, Karen-Pam thing is pretty much the most enthralling, suspenseful, best written, acted and produced story arch I've ever seen in a sitcom. Every week they just tease you and twist you around with something else.

Oh, Angela, your Baby Jesus song repels the gays!

Oscar's entrance/exit was about the most perfect moment of the season so far, though Kevin was off the charts awesome in this episode...and I almost felt a genuine twinge of empathy when Dwight held out his hand to Angela.

"Don't tell her what to do. Phyllis?.?!" (I don't even know how to punctuate that line.)

I'm betting Michael took his mom to Jamaica.

Although I have to say, I know it's a different character and Michael has much wider and less realistic emotional swings, but it really hit me tonight how much more range Gervais has when it comes to actually projecting pain or fear. I almost feel like there's too much affection and optimistic bonding among the characters lately...it's getting all too homey I think...maybe when the holidays are over they'll get back to the idea of the grind that was always there in the first two season.
Freeway
So...is it too early to give 'em the Emmy?
NeilB
Awesome episode. I think my favorite part was Oscar finally coming back, with his boyfriend, only to turn right back around and walk out. Or maybe it was Kevin's vocal stylings, with him growing more and more intense as he ends the song. But really, there were a million great moments in this episode.

Hmm... wonder where you got that idea, you idea stealing bastard.

I loved the episode. Creed's hair was more poofy then usual. Kevin was awesome this episode. I'm thinking he is taking Jan but who knows. I hated Jim when he didn't go with Pam's joke then did one of his own. That bastard. Andy continues to be awesome in everything he does. Pam and Karen or Paren as I like to call them, were a great team. Jim saying he was on the rebound was incredible. Even caused me to scream out AWWWW. Who's a dork, this guy right here. I'm rewatching the episode right now.

My wife immediately leapt to the same conclusion.

If any of you lot recorded this and would be willing to dup a copy for me, I'd PayPal them as soon as a transfer is complete.

Fucking Ep/Sp settings on my VCR screwed me on this one. I HATE having missed this.
MotherOfPearl
The Christmas episode is repeating next week on NBC, don't sweat it. If you can't wait, just look for The Office on Daily Motion. The Christmas episode will probably be uploaded by somebody there tomorrow. Doesn't NBC have full episodes on their site for US viewers too?
russellmania
did anyone have problems with the HD feed? Towards the end of the show it was breaking up for me while my other HD channels were fine as well as the SD feed.

Also, I must have missed it but did Karen leave the party early? if so, why?

IIRC, Michael seemed set for whoever he was on the phone with to reject him, and he was surprised when they said yes to Jamaica.........I might have to swing with Jan, the divorcee who's probably lonely around the holidays as well.
Goodrich
I was totally expecting Angela and Breast-Feeding Lady (I can't remember her name) to form an alliance at the Nutcracker party. Instead they bickered. I think I liked that better. Stanley's big moment of indecision was awesome. And I dug seeing the little moment of drunk camraderie between Michael, Roy, and Kevin was fun...but Kevin raging with his Alanis cover? Awesome. I'm surprised they didn't have him cover something by the Police, but then again he was just trying to express his range at Angela.

EDIT: yeah, I bet it's Jan as well. We'll know for sure, because if it was Jan there's no possible way Michael could keep that a secret.
Mushroomjones
The alone interplay between Michael and Jim is quite possibly the best on any sitcom ever. It's just so damn fascinating.
Grandpa Munster
I totally had to cringe when Carol showed-up with the Christmas card Michael gave her with him photoshopped-in.

Then, Andy 'cockblocking' Dwight was awesome too...
bink_winkleman
Okay, guys, so what was the "awful" movie she and Jim had? I tried to pause the tape (not in with all your fancy TiVo), but it was too blurry.

DougN
I was hoping for Kelly to pop up after that and say, "Oh my God you guys, that is one of my favorite movies! Like seriously, it's just amazingly deep."
piranesi
Despite all the love for Andy, this is the first episode where I've really liked his performance. It was much less about just him being goofy (giving him one stupid hobby or skill after another: Frolf, banjo ballads, a capella, etc.) and more about how much of an archetypal sales type he is, and how much that plays into what an archetypal sales type Michael is.

Plus:

"She's even more beautiful than how you described her."
"OOOOH...Michael, there's NOTHING wrong with how you described her!"

and I do love Dwight's unflinching respect of chain of command.

"Requesting permission to join the committee on committees!"
".....ahhhh....permission denied..."
"DAMN!"

They got each other the full screen version, and I only know that because I just bought that for $3.50 at Wal-Mart, which made that moment my favorite one in the show.

So did I, but only because my girlfriend is insane for Colin Firth and she didn't own it so I got it for her stocking.

My wife thought Michael was taking his mom on the trip too...I'd lean toward Jan.

The "bros before hos" segment just about killed me both times I watched the episode. I was laughing so hard it hurt me.

"Dwight, Jim, Ryan, we're going to Asian Hooters"

"Michael we're one bathrobe short." "Take it from Tobe."

"It saves you a trip to the store for a can of expensive goose grease."

The Emmy should be in the bag.

Haha...thanks for that.

My favorite moment was, hands down, "noggasake." Jesus, how disgusting. I'm gonna be laughing about that for a while, especially since I'll be guzzling eggnog prolly every night until Christmas.

Man, I am BEGGING for Carol to end up with Toby at some point during this season. That would be so awesome as Toby's revenge against Michael.
Groovie Ghoulie
There have been diversity meetings as it regards to race relations. Things were ok in the office until the No Limit Soldiers vs. Cowboys angle, because the office is basically made up of country music fans and African Americans, and the angle somehow polarized the office. One of Bischoff's secretaries wrote a very nasty racial joke on her computer and emailed it to her friend, but apparently pushed the wrong button and emailed it to everyone, both black and white, in the office" - The Wrestling Observer Newsletter: August 23, 1999

Yikes I wonder if poor Stevie Ray had to wear an index card with BLACK written on it all day? They should make a sitcom about the inner workings of a doomed wresling promotion.

i love this too. i think one of the reasons why it's so great is because Jim, more than any other character, sees Michael like how we see Michael. yeah, he's ridiculous and he's a jerk, but he's not a bad person. other people in the office are really annoyed by him or freaked by him. or they idolize him in dwight's case
Cell
The underlying theme between Michael and jim, that I absolutely love, is that when all is said and done their friendship is the only true friendship in the entire office.
russellmania
I love that despite being much younger than Michael, Jim is sort of like the big brother figure to Michael, coaching him through all his social failings.
MGFanJay
Jim is also the guy that Michael thinks he is - wanted by all women and the funniest man around.

Am I the only one growing increasingly annoyed with Ryan's character of late?
piranesi
QUOTE
Am I the only one growing increasingly annoyed with Ryan's character of late?

Why? He seems the most consistent to me, and one of the few who hasn't shown some tendency to slip into larger-than-life-beloved character mode...not that that's happening yet, but as the show gets more and more love I fear Dwight, Creed, and perhaps Kevin becoming somehow too big as characters. Even Kelly has the potential to stray too close to "standard sitcom cameo" character at times.

The strength of the show comes from the ultimate smallness and insignificance of them all. Dwight, with all of his bluster, has to remain a tiny, inconsequential man to be funny...to me at least...and he's starting to become such a force...like I almost expect a round of applause when he makes his entrance.

But Ryan seems to be the same as he always has been. He, Toby, and Stanley seem the least prone to this syndrome.

...again, not that I see too much of it yet...but the Dwight Bobblehead was a bad sign. The potential is there...I think it starts when the writers and actors start to "like" the characters too much...like they want them to be loved and not mocked. That was one thing, beloved, that David Brent was never in danger of becoming.
idion
Incredible episode. From start to finish, I was either laughing my arse off or having a heck of a time stifling my giggles. I think I almost passed out from the last twenty seconds.

QUOTE(Danny @ Dec 17 2006, 04:55 AM) *

I think Ryan is one of the most realistic characters on the show. Where as Jim has settled into a routine and accepted his fate at Dunder-Mifflin, Ryan hasn't and isn't afraid to show his bitterness at where he is. Has he been somewhat of a jerk lately? Yes, but then most people his age and in his position come off that way too.
