Picked up the boxed set from Best Buy on my lunch break today. The Dundie is awesome. The mini Dwight is even better. The inside of the box top is a Schrute buck. The welcome letter is...well...not too funny.
The DVD is set up just like season two was. Having watched the first four episodes of the season again I find my opinion on them unchanged. Gay Witch Hunt is incredible. The Convention is probably my least favorite episode all time. The Coup has some funny moments (The M&M's and Crentist being my personal high points) but overall feels flat. Grief Counseling has some good parts too (the entirety of the Ed Truck Robot discussion, for instance) but is uneven.
I'm looking forward to rewatching the rest of the season, as on my first watch I felt the early part of the season was very weak, but 5 or 6 episodes in they decided to "kick it up a notch!...Emeril."
Overall some really good stuff, and since I never watch deleted scenes online those will be a special treat.

Has anyone else watched the Cooking with Kevin extra on Disc 2 of the Season 3 set? I have no clue why they filmed it, but I'm unbelievably happy they did. If anything, I really hope they make more little extra mini-shows for the minor regulars for the website & DVD.

http://www.eonline.com/news/article/index....sid=fd-hot4-txtSeason 3 DVD has been great so far as well. The commentary on the Job episode is awesome. I have been jumping around from ep to ep, but even though I have a bunch of these still on the DVR, buying the DVD was well worth it.

I'm not getting what's so ridiculous about their request/ultimatum. They don't want to read about it on their own profile comments, they've told people as much, and it's been made clear that there's zero tolerance. I really don't think it's being played up by either of them as a great dishonor to be deleted from their friends on MySpace. I'm sure there are some people who would see that as the ultimate mark of shame, like a great big "D" sewn onto their shirt. But those are the same people who would never, ever dare speak out against their celebrity best friends.

Speaking of deleted scenes from Back From Vacation, what is the actual song to the tune of which Kelly sings "Pens and Staplers and Pencils"? It's been stuck in my head all day.
Also, season four premiere is titled "Fun Run" for anyone who hasn't noticed yet on their DVR or IMDB or whatever.

Michael/Dwight trying to push Tony (fat dude) onto the stage for me, easily. It's all about Michael here, with "I'm under this HOCK here," and this isn't a direct quote, but he also said something like "I don't know what I'm holding." So fucking uncomfortable.
And since were asking random questions - what the hell is that song Andy sings to Pam in the super high voice? It's at the end of the episode where Jim purposely gives him bad advice on picking her up. Sounds really familiar, but Andy is going off so damn hard with that crazy high voice, I just can't place it.

Ohmygod, that's awesome. Andy Bernard is so great in this, with his hissyfit upon finding out Stanford was closing, to "I'm going to lose my FREAKING mind!" while kicking a trashcan, ZOMBIE,ZOMBIE, to the ultra-tantrum with the phone in the celing and punching a whole in the wall....it's all so much fun.

Neither of these is nearly as awkward as Michael kissing Oscar - easily the most cringe-inducing moment of the series, and all credit goes to Steve Carell, who adlibbed the kiss and freaked out the rest of the cast.

Ed Helms was such an awesome addition to the show this past season. At the beginning of the season he came off as "Dwight 2.0" to some extent, but they did a really good job of giving him his own distinct character and making him a perfect foil for both Jim and Dwight.
I cannot wait for the new season to begin. It's obviously going to go mach 5.

Sep 14 2007, 03:21 AM
There was a point early on when I actually didn't like Ed Helms in the show. I was getting a Poochy vibe...his idiosyncrasies were too many and too...targeted somehow...overthought.
But as soon as he started interacting with Michael and engaging his "winning strategy" ideology, I was won over. He became an actual familiar character or caricature of a type that occurs in offices in the wild and not just a series of randomly annoying habits thrown into a hat at a writer's brainstorming session.
As far as most awkward moments, I still cringe at the Kelly slap from sensitivity training...and Dwight listing the ethnicities he would like to have sex with. They still haven't touched the level of Ricky Gervais getting into the fight with the a Big Brother reject at a "public appearance" in some pub in the UK Office Christmas Special....God that just...hurts me. It really makes me want to regress to a zygote and not have to know.

Yeah, Gervais is still the king of awkwardness. The only thing, IMO, that trumps it is from the first season of Extras where he completely paints himself into a corner at a catholic prayer group meeting; just spinning lie after lie until he comes out and says he doesn't believe in god and has been lying in order to impress the woman he met on the set of his latest film and not upset her cerebral palsey-striken sister, it's just 5-6 HARSH minutes of the most teeth-grinding television ever, so well done.

Finished up watching the commentaries tonight. I enjoyed them much more than I did on Season 2, as I felt they mixed it up more (Rainn Wilson and BJ Novak are all over the place, but they're both really good at it) and included more of the actors. Harold Ramis sitting in for a couple of them was nice too.

Finished the season 3 DVD set while at work today and noticed something in the last episode that was pretty awesome.
As Jim is talking with the CFO and handing over his sales reports, he sees the note from Pam and as the camera focuses in on it + Jim's facial expression, in the background the CFO is talking about "an annoying HR guy that works here". He also says "he'll probably be the only guy you hate here."
I thought that was a great.

My two favorites that I didn't pick up during the original broadcast were:
1. Dwight's Speech: After Michael announces the $1,000 bonuses Stanley is telling his wife to "order the wallpaper. Wallpaper the ceiling if you want to." The part I missed originally was after the bonuses are shown to be bogus, Stanley can be heard off camera saying "Cancel the wallpaper."
2. During the BBQ at Jim's place Angela is talking to Dwight outside, saying something along the lines of "I think wine is ok...Jesus drank it."
I first caught those when I got the season two DVD, and both crack me up every time.

By the way, the "Fun Run" t-shirt and the wristband pictured above are now on sale on NBC's website. I'm sure they'll sell a lot of those. I'm tempted to buy the shirt myself.
This episode was great, and it really struck me ho Pam has really borke out of her shell over the last few episodes of last season and notably in this episode. She seems way more outgoing and vocal than when the series began, going back to the "Beach Games" episode last season.
I love how after a whole series of buildup to Pam and Jim dating, it's finally revealed on this episode and yet it's not even the major focal point of episode. Heck, I think the Pam/Jim relationship only had a few minutes devoted to it during the whole hour. It's almost innovative that the producers took a "business as usual" approach to their relationship rather than the typical "OH MY GOD, THEY'RE FINALLY TOGETHER, SUPERSIZED EPISODE!!!" approach that you expect from these types of love storylines. It's hard to explain in words, but hopefully someone else understands what I'm getting at.

I was really hoping for a tad more Corporate Ryan, the preview made it seem like he was going to be Mr. Pseudo-Badass. It seems like there could be a wealth of possibilities with that.
I enjoyed the premiere, there just seems to be something really unnatural about seeing Jim and Pam both happy for an entire episode, though.
