Man, Creed is so awesome.

"Andrea's, uhh, the office bitch. You'll get used to her."

I think the reason they have Toby going after Pam is to create more tension between Toby and Michael. Now that Michael is buddies with Jim again, if Toby asks Pam out, Michael is going to be all over that, which should be terribly awkward.

Tonight was the first eposide of this show I've seen and it was pretty good.I like the cast of characters and this show is really quotable.I'll definetly be back next week(However on a side note the lead in "My Name Is Earl" just isn't as funny as it was last season.)
Zubaz/GreggG
I think Toby is after Pam because he's still getting over his painful divorce and the young tail is available.

Not the best episode but still really fucking funny and setting up stuff for, I'm guessing, after X-Mas. (BTW, Harold Ramis is directing the X-Mas episode this year.) They admitted Michael's salesmanship and now he has a big score in terms of a business pickup -- sets up Stamford moving into Scranton and the Stamford boss' rivalry with Michael.

I loved Pam's blind date, that guy talking about how edgy he was and being condescending about his art. Perfectly played as a lame guy. Not as great as Ed Helms' character last week, but still really funny.

The blacklight bit was great and signature material.
NeilB
I always like it when Michael at least gets to show a semblance of competency. It at least shows why he made it to manager and gives his character a sort of slight dignity that keeps him from becoming completely cartoonish.

And Creed is always awesome. It seems like every episode he's in he accounts for one of the better moments in that episode. Introducing himself to Meredith was great.
The Lazy Samurai
I really enjoyed the episode for reasons already listed but I didn't care for Jim telling Michael the reason he transferred was Pam then forgetting that Michael can't keep a secret and imploring him not to tell her. Sloppy writing unless it's revealed somehow that it was all a part of Jims plan to have Pam "accidentally" find out because of Michael.

"Well, maybe next time you should estimate me, Jan."
Robert
I would think Pam knows already, no? I mean... she turns Jim down... he transfers. Should be self-explanatory.

And it helps make it more believable that he's not yet been fired for any of his dumbass antics. I love when they show him doing well at his job, as the rest of the time it's him doing so poorly at managing.

I think Stanley and Phyllis had one of the best exchanges of the episode last night with Pam. And poor Toby! I was cringing more at his awkwardness than I was at Michael's pathetic dance party.

Jim's just a really, really nice guy and doesn't want Michael to be hurt/sad. Besides, Pam already pretty much KNOWS why Jim transferred. She may not be able to say it, but she knows. Michael inevitably mentioning it to her can only make things more entertaining.

Also awesome: Creed never remembering anything, Angela's trip to Philadelphia (ala Dwight's Speech last season) and the feud between the competent Josh Porter and the crazy Michael Scott.

BUT WHERE WAS RASHIDA JONES???
The Notorious D.L.C.
One of my favorite parts was Toby walking into the kitchen area, looking at Pam, and then frustatingly muttering to himself as he walked striaght through out the other door.

And what was the deal Michael made again? I was under the impression it was related to his "party." I might have missed the more important points of that.
DougN
He talked a rep from "Hammermill" into doing business with Dunder-Mifflin. The big thing being that they are normally exclusive only to Staples and Michael got them to come over.

Yeah, I love when Michael shows that he can actually do something right. I don't know how he does it, but Michael can sell paper. I don't think this one thing will make it so the Stamford branch is incorporated into the Scranton branch. It will probably be a lot of things.

Creed stole the show. I'm sorry. Asking someone for a 100 dollar bill, then stealing their food, messing up their name, and introducing himself to someone he was "sick of staring at" in the Conflict Resolution episode is simply amazing.

I just gotta ask. Why the hell is Ryan still with Kelly? I mean, seriously. He's completely miserable and she's feeding him shit he doesn't even like. That dinner must have been the most horribly awkward thing to sit through.

And Toby....Toby is fast becoming my favorite minor character. I don't know why, but I can't help but love him in everything he does whether it be go against Michael or just give that horridly awkward puppy dog look to the camera.

This episode felt kind of like the "Booze Cruise" to me, but not just because of Jim telling Michael. Can't really explain it, but it was still a damn good episode. As always, deleted scenes are up on NBC.com/The_Office

"Don't you monkey me."

Edit: I'm uploading the show again so if you want it, PM me.

Jim brought this up on Casino Night when Ryan was ordering Kelly's insanely complex drink. Ryan simply looked quietly at the floor.

Ryan proclaimed he didn't want to be a "guy" at Dunder-Mifflin, but now he's the fire guy, a junior sales rep, and dating the chatty girl from customer relations just because he's too lazy to get out of it.

He's what Jim would be if he didn't have Pam in his life.
DougN
No, he pretty much is Jim....and if you remember, he kind of talked down to Jim about it (or to the camera) in the episode where Jim planned his trip.

Plus, I don't see how being lazy would be going out on dates with Kelly really. Hanging out with her at the office, maybe, but outside? I dunno, just doesn't quite add up to me.

You do have to love that even though he was promoted, he's still Michael's bitch.

The best part of the Toby scene you described is that he never stopped walking - he basically threw out a hilarious, half-assed wave that Pam had no chance of seeing as he walked past her, realized that she hadn't looked up, then just kept on going. Truly brilliant.

This felt like a decent episode with great individual moments, rather than a wall-to-wall classic like Basketball or Booze Cruise was. I mean, the high points were fantastic (the interaction with the Bus, Kelly shoving fries into Ryan's mouth, everything Creed did), but this just sort of felt like a transition episode. Next week should be very interesting.

Great episode. I'm in stitches over the blacklight at the end of the show showing, well, the room and stuff. That was funny.

They're almost beating us over the heads with the Jim and Pam stuff, which I'm not sure I like. They could have at least had Pam go on the date then a couple episodes later Jim would admit to Michael why he moved. They should have spaced those out if that is the story they're going for.

I think the both Jim and Pam things were sort of meant to parallel eachother. Pam has her first date and Jim is with people he is comfortable with and can share things with. I think it was cool to see how no matter how much Jim goofed on Michael, he likes and seems to respect him. The fact Michael was alone gave Jim the chance to sort of pour out his feelings without the risk of spilling his heart out to everyone.
I dug the episode, definately a transition episode for sure. The three sentences Creed said in the show and how fucking hilarious they were really shows how brilliant the writers are to have been able to build a character like that.

Anyone else catch on that the Martin family saying "someone took the slow train from Philly" meaning a slut was made hilariously ironic by Angela laying in wait in Dwight's room and being confused for a hooker?

I remember hearing that, but I thought she was referring to Kelly. I'm new to the Office, so I didn't make the connection between the "hooker" in Dwight's room and Angela.
DougN
The hooker WAS Angela.

She came incognitio to the hotel room under Jane Doe and hid from Michael when he came up.

She was upset about not spending time with Dwight so she came up and got his room key and waited for him.

They're going out and have been for almost a year, if not that.

Anyone notice what may have been a subtle Roy trying to win pam back moment when he came up for a soda and the chick with Pam said "What is that, like your 3rd soda today?" Implying he was making excuses to come up to the main office. Am I reading too much into that?

No, I think that's exactly how we were supposed to read that.

Not such a great episode in terms of humor, however Creed was fantastic, as usual.

EDIT: And Dwight's knack for knowing exactly where Jan shops for blouses and earrings was pretty funny.

What an... odd episode tonight. Both Michael and Dwight came off as assholes, while Angela was more likeable here than at any other point in the show. I like that they're planting the seeds for Pam and Roy getting back together as well as Jim and the chick who was mocking him in CoD getting together. I have a feeling that neither will get into a committed relationship until they're both back in the same area again.

I didn't think Michael came off as an asshole at all. Dwight went behind his back and tried to screw him out of his job. It's about time he shed his "I just want everyone to like me" attitude and act like the person who's supposed to be running the office.
MGFanJay
True, but then he went right back with Dwight to watch the movie - doing exactly the thing that could've cost him his job.
entwinedwithsickness
Michael saying "Lets hug it out bitch" was one of my favorite moments ever involving him.
Reggie20x6
The whole thing with Michael tricking Dwight and being an "asshole" was all to set up the Entourage line which closed the show. Which was set up perfectly by Pam's story where Michael made the office watch that particular episode of Entourage six times.

DougN
I second that this was a very weird episode. It seemed like every one in the office was completely out of character. Michael was being directly shitty to someone (and not a one-liner like he does to Toby), Jim was out of the loop completely, Dwight wasn't loyal, Angela actually showed emotion, Jan showed more decency towards Micheal, Pam broke out of the shell, Roy showed he cared about her, Toby (this one's stretching it) showed he just doesn't give a fuck anymore by watching the movie with the rest of them, et cetera.

Seriously, it was weird, but it was definitely hiliarious and one I loved watching.

The best thing just had to be the games in Stamford though and the guy telling Jim that he would actually kill him, the game was over, and he was going to shoot him. Plus, the sheer logic in that Michael's branch gets chewed out for playing thirty minutes of Vasity Blues as opposed to the hours they spend playing the game at Stamford shows just how much Jan hates Michael right now. They really should have added some of the deleted scenes with Jan and Michael into the past two episodes to show more of this.

Overall, great episode.

How is any of that out of character for any of them? I didn't find this episode weird at all.

Jim hasn't really been fitting in that great at the Stamford branch and this episode furthered that. Dwight dropped his loyalty to Michael, because Angela's his girlfriend and she was pushing him to try and make a play for branch manager since Michael was being inept. She's been controllish and bossy since they started going out. Jan outted Dwight's meeting because, well, has she ever really cared for Dwight at all? No. Jan outting Dwight to Michael wasn't anything about her being decent to Michael. She knows how Michael is and how Michael would react if he found out his supposed best friend went behind his back. More drama that takes away from work at the Scranton branch probably means the faster it gets closed down. And the faster that happens, the faster she's rid of Michael. And Pam didn't break out of her shell, but she's making strides that she stated she had started making in the first episode of the season (breaking up with Roy, moving on her own, taking art classes) and continued with the date in the second one. And Roy going up to get sodas in an opportunity to bump into Pam isn't that strange. He said flat out in Gay Witch Hunt that he knew what he was missing now and wasn't going to take her for granted, and that he was going to try and win her back.

Anyways, I thought the episode was great. Best of the season, IMO.

See, I took that as showing that even as inept as the Scranton branch appears to be at times, it's simply that they're being watched closer. I think it's another sign that though the branch appears to be operating at a higher level, they're eventually going to be the branch that's closed once Jan finds out how Josh is running the place. Michael does stupid things because he's trying too hard, Josh does stupid things because he just doesn't give a shit (see his reaction to having to go over harassment training w/ his branch)

I think many of these episodes right now will feel weird as characters go through change (Pam and Jim, Michael trying to keep power), and as they build to the branch changes later on this season.

I third it. Great finish, and the Stamford stuff was excellent as always, but the Michael-Dwight storyline seemed a little too weak to carry the episode. The second act made little sense (Dwight gets promoted and starts right then and there?) and it almost seemed that the writing wasn't really building to anything so much as it was just passing time for the big finish.

Quite frankly, at this point in the season, I actually like the Stamford stuff more than the Scranton scenes. I'm enjoying the dynamic where Jim has gone from big man on campus to being treated like Dwight in three weeks.

I think this is an episode that I will look back on much more fondly after I see where this all goes, but it was just kinda there this week.
