Honestly, I know Triple H is and CAN STILL be a draw, but he is so insecure about his legacy that it really has ruined stuffing instead of potatoes. It's sad actually because the WWE has a whole fleet of young talent that they can use, but seem to fall into the trap of the same old booking. I feel for the writers because they have to write in order to keep there jobs and appease Vince and Triple H. Instead, RAW is booked about 'Triple H's obession with being the world champion' realistically since 99' and the show has not progressed from this point:

99' HHH vs Austin, Rock, Bulldog, Big Show
00' HHH vs Foley, Rock, Angle
01' HHH vs Angle, Taker
02' HHH vs Hogan, RVD, Kane, Chris Jericho, Taker
03' HHH vs Michaels, Goldberg, Nash, Steiner, Booker T
04' HHH vs. Michaels, Benoit, Orton
05' HHH vs. Batista, Flair, Big Show, Orton
06' HHH vs. McMahon family, Rated RKO (not about the title - the only feuds not about the belt or for a number one con'd spot - STILL THE FOCAL POINT OF THE SHOW), Cena,
07' HHH vs Booker T, Umaga, Carlito, Orton, Jeff Hardy
08' HHH vs. Cena, Orton, Hardy, Vladimir Koslov
09' HHH vs ORTON (Again)

Out of these feuds, the only one H elevated was Jeff Hardy - but he was already over.

This is really sad in a lot of ways and a reason why it has been difficult for people to get emotionally invested in the WWE product.

I would argue that he successfully elevated Batista in 2005, losing to him 3 PPVs in a row and then taking time off, and it couldn't have hurt Benoit to have never lost to him from 2001 onwards, particularly HHH tapping to the Crossface at WMXX and then losing every match the 2 had following then.....

So I'm watching the Macho Man dvd, and noticed something during the Summerslam 88 match. Right after Elizabeth tears off her skirt, they cut to Hogan and Savage doing the goofiest, cheesiest, "we did something awesome" handshake of all time. I had never noticed this before, but it was sooo awesome.

That was the megapowers mega handshake.

They did that all the time that year.

Now that I think about it, you're right. Still, in the context of the match, it was goofy as hell.

Can anyone verify if the Handshake was shown on the original Coliseum Video release? I don't remember seeing the handshake after the skirt incident, and it was the first PPV I ever owned

To make the handshake even better, is that they were outside the ring, almost hiding by the apron when they did it.

The best Hogan celebrations are when he has someone else in the ring with him. It always bugs me that he didn't let Bam Bam back in there with him after punking out Andre at Survivor Series. I could just see Bam Bam doing cartwheels while Hogan was doing the ear thing.

I'd throw in Rikishi as well.

How did HHH help Rikishi's career at all? He was crazy, crazy over on his own. Then the heel turn with HHH killed all of his momentum. Shelton never really went anywhere after those matches, either, but that's more his fault than anyone else.

I'm watching the last CZW Tournament of Death, mainly to see the Nick Gage spectacle. Thing is, given that is CZW in 2009, and it was apparently held in a wrestler's backyard, they have drawn pretty well. It's at least twice as much as the last IWA-MS KOTDM, 500 easy, could be maybe 800.

Rikishi had a match with HHH on a Smackdown during the McMahon-Helmsley era. IIRC, HHH pulled his opponent's name out of what was supposed to be a rigged bag o' names, but pulled Rikishi's name instead. HHH put over Rikishi by acting fearful after drawing his name, and then proceeded to have a competitive match in the main event that ended in a DQ after HHH hit Rikishi with a chair and the belt, all of which Rikishi shook off. Prior to this, Rikishi had been over as a mid card comedy act, but the match with HHH elevated him beyond that. This was before the Who Hit Austin angle and during the time when HHH would bust out surprisingly competitive matches with the likes of Taka Michinoku.

Basically, it was the exact opposite of his match with MVP.

Edit: Here is CRZ's recap.

Pretty much I would imagine. I think it won't be to long before he's wished well in future endeavors.

After TWGTT was broken up by the draft, beating HHH twice in a row helped elevate Shelton Benjamin from tag team wrestler to guy who was credible enough to win the IC title a few months later. That's not elevation to main event status, but it's still elevation.

HHH helped establish the Eugene character. He also made Ric Flair appear to be still relevant as a wrestler.

I've never heard of this before. Are they showing old episodes of Maple Leaf Wrestling or something else like that? If so, I'll be tuning in!

Of all the Japanese wrestlers that have come through the WWE through the decades, they pick Yoshi Yatsu to name a guy after? How random.

EDITED TO ADD: And now we have a dude working an Arsenio Hall gimmick. This is the oddest show in a while.
