I would assume Dean Malenko's post Benoit comments were pretty bad? From a wrestling standpoint, other's come to mind. What you got?

I gotta say Jake the Snake as he has been working hard to make sure he has no legacy to speak of for the last couple of decades.

I can't think of a better example than Inoki. Everything he's done since he retired has seemed to be geared towards further destroying all the good will he used to have with his fans, many of whom are wrestlers who learned the hardway that the only person Inoki works towards helping is Antonio Inoki.

Ole Anderson also might fit this as his overall bitterness has resulted in many looking back in hindsight and realizing he wasn't as great as he makes himself out to be.

I hate to say it, but Foley is drifting into that territory. He went out on top in two great matches against HHH (not counting WrestleMania) and if he had never wrestled again he'd probably be one of the more beloved wrestlers in recent memory. The first few "come backs" were fine, but then we got the Carlito feud and he came back so often for little stuff that it no longer became special. He had sprinkled in goodness (Flair feud for example) but overall it was a mixed bag. Now he is in TNA, the minor leagues, and no one cares (judging by the lack of ratings bump). He already has hurt his legacy, but he hasn't ruined it yet and is still young-ish by wrestling standards, so we'll see what happens the next few years. He still has "it" on the mic which he showed in his last WWE appearance, but his legacy has really taken a hit the last 8 years.

What did Malenko say that was so bad? I must have tuned out on the whole feeding frenzy by the time that happened.

when asked his biggest regret, he said, "training Marc Mero." As opposed to doing more to keep his two best friends from destroying themselves with drugs.

Vilano 3 post unmasking. Watching some of his stuff from last year was beyond depressing. Forget bumping, I was amazed he could even walk to and from the ring.

With all his crazieness Id say the Ultimate Warrior as he is more known as a total wing nut then as the guy who was as if not more popular then Hogan in the late 80's early 90's

Bret Hart went a long way. It's one thing to be bitter about the screwjob, but he refused to get over it and he half-assed like crazy in WCW. Then after the retirement he's been generally unpleasant.

I'd have to go with Brock Lesnar since he's gone from a title push to the stratosphere to burning his bridges in US pro wrestling to failing at US pro football to selling himself as a reliable worker to Puro to burning his bridges in Japanese pro wrestling to becoming UFC whipping boy that can't throw a punch for jack shit.

WWE put the title on Randy Orton so that "Brock Lesnar = Youngest WWE Champion" didn't have to be a factoid anymore.

Heath Herring's face would disagree with you on that one.

Kurt Angle, anyone? He's went from being a highly regarded WWE main eventer to a crazed overworking pill-popping wife-losing DUIer in about 2 and a half years.

Other that came through my mind.

Lex Luger: He's gone from a hot young babyface with a lot of promises to the poserboy of a fallen legacy from roids problems and bad attitude. He never had a true legacy but he could have been well remembered.
Sting: TNA nuff' said, even if his half-assed work after Starrcade 97 already gave him a bad light.
Miss Elizabeth: Died from overdose when people tought she was pure and innocent (ok, not really but it puts her in a bad light).
Bret Hart: Like Ditch said, he doesn't want to get over it (and not for the Owen Hart tragedy).
Hulk Hogan is more of a gloryhogger laughingstock than to be the real american hero of the 80's.

Hey we forgot Kurt Angle too (beaten)!

I'll take Hulk Hogan. When "The Father of the Year" supplied the alcohol that contributed to his underage son leaving John Graziano in a permanent vegetable state, it was bad. Then claiming that it was God that "laid some heavy shit on that kid" was downright awful.

Listen to the Meltzer interview with Bret from a week ago; he's been over Montreal for a while. Owen's death, the stroke, and his generally loathsome family have been more grating on him than anything.

I've heard worse come out of a wrestler's mouth. I'd say his WWE run tarnished him more.

Right on. My vote goes to Foley as well. I can see why someone would say Angle, but he's put on some decent matches since leaving WWE and could always return there as well. Granted, he'd have mega heat, but Vince loves bringing people like that back and making them look like dopes doing a 180. Angle is still considered by most to be one of the greats. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in WWE where he left off... well, after some proper losses to Triple H and Michaels, of course. I don't think going to TNA hurt him that much. He's accomplished a lot since he's been there.

Foley is seen as a goofball, and if he would've stayed retired, he could've been seen as a Hardcore Legend (or whatever he called himself). The guy is the opposite of Hart in some ways, but not completely. He doesn't care about his legacy anymore and it's not quite about the money either. If money was the case, he wouldn't have left WWE over Vince allegedly screaming at him. Making a comeback to face COACH of all people and shit like that was stupid, but going to TNA is worse. It's hard to pinpoint where his head is at now. Either way, he may regret a lot of this as he gets older.
